Magnavox / Phillips wont turn on and makes a squeaky sound

Recently while watching tv- everything stopped working and was replaced by the sound of a sqeaky wheel. the tv does not despond in any way. nothing works. the only things that happens is as soon as the tv is plugged in it starts to make the squeaky sound- is there any way to fix the tv? i would assume there is a problem with the power supply.

The sqeaky sound is arcing in the line timebase, or switch mode power supply, which also doubles up as the power supply for various voltages. You must get a service engineer to look at this as it will only get worse and cost more for repair if you continue to switch it on.

you tv have a problem of vertical ic or cacacitor or resistor right around vertical section. that is make tv shut down in alot of magnavox tv. good luck!

Switch off the surge protector for 2-3 minutes then switch back on and TV should work.

TV makes "Pops" and "Crackles" sounds from the back while viewing

remove the cover and observe the source of the light. if its in the picture tube it can be fixed with a picture rejuvonator. if its a cracked solder joint a soldering iron and solder will fix it.

any magnavox controler will work just put in some good batteries . lots retail wholesale stores like walmart carries magnavox tv remotes but make sure its a magnavox.
