Screen Info. won't go away: Time, day, channel, zeros SLP
I lost my manual and I can't get rid of the on-screen information: Time, day, chan no., 00:00:00 SLP. How do I make the on-screen information go away? I tried going through the Menu options, but I couldn't figure out the right ones to select. Thank you.

Press and Hold Power button on the TV for 5 seconds [or] disconnect the AC cord from wall socket.
TV volume down and OK on the remote only does a basic IC self check. It do not rest the TV. It do not clear channel programmed settings, picture settings, channel labels, lock settings or password. Using this method, it shows the units' firmware version [Peaks 1.050 and GenX 1.00] and it checks the IC communications only. This is more useful to identify the firmware version, without having to decode the info in the setup menu about version/screen.
TO RESET THE UNIT
To make a reset to TV, turn it ON while pressing the [Volume-ve] button on the main unit, and press the 'Menu' button on the remote control for more than 3 seconds. The self check menu appear on the screen. Then disconnect the AC cord from the wall outlet. [ALL PROGRAMMED PARAMETERS WILL BE ERASED]
If you press the INPUT button on the TV remote you switch to your various inputs, you have HDMI 1 selected. The info banner will display each time you switch channels or inputs. Press the DISPLAY button on the TV remote. Press again if info does not go away after 10 secs. Check your INITIAL SETTINGS on the TV to fine tune this kind of option.
SLP is the lowest picture quality possible for a DVD recording. Due to the extreme compression used for this mode, fast motion and detail are lost. It's one of the costs of long playing time. Try the next recording speed faster?
Try to manually add cahn 3 or 4 to the lineup. if there is a reciver installed with a coax cable then it should show up on cahn 3 or 4. also you can also try entering the cahn number manually such as pressing zero, three on the keypad or whichever chan you a re trying to access.
If you can program a Comcast remote or another universal remote that has an info key, you can get rid of it. I just succeeded in programming my comcast remote thanks to Dave Taylor: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_program_comcast_cable_remote_control.html
Once the remote is programmed, hit the "info" button and watch your frustration disappear!
Press (on your regular remote for your satellite) the t.v. button, then press info, this worked for me and I tried everything. another viewer posted this solution and it worked great! this is not the original remote, it is the satellite remote.
