Make sure the "Still Image Service" is running on your system. Right-click "My Computer", select "Manage", then open "Services" applet. Scroll down to the "Still Image Service", right-click it and set its properties to "Automatic", then right-click it and "Start" it.

Now a days the service is called WIA or Windows Image Acquisition, not Still Image Service

I have the exact same problem, when I tried to access the WIA through services and I told it to start I got an error code: 1068 " the dependency service or group failed to start. Now I have a HP all-one hooked up and It works just fine. I have reloaded the software three time and I am in contact with Canon Support. This is the pitts.

How do I disable Auto Crop

There are three ways to stop autocropping in the CanoScan software. (Trick 1) ScanGear window: If using ScanGear driver (via Canon MP Navigator EX) to scan, the most important trick is nothing to do with the cropping settings and everything to do with a little button in the top left corner of the ScanGear driver window called "Switches on/off the thumbnails view mode". Click that to make the crop full platen-sized as well as make sure all your Preferences for Preview are Cropping Frame for Previewed images is set to NONE. (Trick 2) If using Canon MP Navigator EX to Scan, just make sure the settings in (1) above are completed, and no cropping will occur. (Trick 3) If accessing your scanner through your Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Devices and Printers, CanoScan (whatever device name), then when the scanner winodow appears, there will be a small box entitled Preview or Scan images as separate files. Make sure to untick this box, and cropping will cease. If you actually want cropping, do the opposite of all the above tricks to enable it.

Scan gear is not detecting our IR3300, how can I

Make sure to use the B&W version of ScanGear not the Colour one.
Latest version I think is v2.21. See http://www.usa.canon.com/html/download/canonnetutils.html
Also make sure your copier has an IP address in the same IP range e.g. 192.168.0.x (where the first three numbers out of 4 are the same) as your computer.
Also turn scanning online at the copier using the instructions in the manual included with the download. Be sure to turn scanning off so that other functions can be used when finished.
You may wish to try disabling a firewall (temporarily) or a direct connection to the copier if you still can't get it to work.

Network ScanGear can't discover Canon IR 3220

Had the same problem with my Canon IR2018i... After spending about all day stuffing around and ready to give up... I read in the Color Network Scangear User Manual that
"Only scanners on the same subnet (network with the same network ID) as your computer are displayed in the list"
So I went the the TCP/IP settings on my copier and changed my subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.255 and magically my scanner appeared....
Give it a go...

Whenever i try to scan, i get a message saying there is no scan options

Was having the same problem. I was however able to scan using the HP Solution Center. My solution was to make sure "HP Digital Imaging Monitor" was running. I found mine in: C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin The program name is: hpqtra08.exe It has to be running befor you turn on your printer. It's use is to allow you to scan to your computer without using the HP Solution Center.

When I purchased my Canon 4370dn I was u7nder the

Actually, Omnipage should be included on the CD that came with the unit. If (and I mean if) scangear installs correctly AND locates your 4370dn on the network, it will install itself as a shim TWAIN driver. After the installation of Omnipage, you will need to do a scanner setup and identify the scangear shim as the scanner you intend to work with. After that, Omnipage should work just fine using your 4370dn on the network.

Word of warning: I've had a lot of trouble with scangear if it doesn't install correctly or locate your device on the network. For whatever reason, sometimes it just doesn't want to cooperate sometimes and seemingly nothing you do will convice it that your device is alive and well on the network (including continous ping to the device and/or opening the web interface while installing). This is particularly true for Win64.

RemoteUI Contents is Not Found

Remote UI probably has not been installed on copier. Get a technician to come out and use SST to load RUI onto your copier. They should upgrade firmware to latest version at same time.
Don't forget you can also pull scan over the network using Canon Network ScanGear Tool in case you would like to scan.

Scanning

joslloyd universal send is not available on the 3300 but it is on the 3300i.
You link to an old version of scangear software. Use http://downloads.canon.com/cpr/software/devicemanagement/NWSG_v2.21.exe
On the 3300 press System/Options button, One of four buttons far right, next to copy, fax, mailbox.
Press Online.
Read the manual included with ScanGear for how to set it up. Or ask if you are having difficulties.
