SOURCE: Fabric Softner won't dispense

fabric softener goes into the dispenser. it may be a full blown solenoid valve -or- a flapper type of solenoid valve. operation of the solenoid operates a flapper to let the softener out. go to an appliance repair site to find the solenoid - appliance parts dot com or repair clinic dot com.

SOURCE: Fabric Softener Won't Dispense

The fabric softener dispenser is notorious for clogging. Liquid fabric softener is essentially a liquid form of wax. After a period of time it begins to gunk up the inside of the fabric softener dispenser. If you remove the dispenser drawer and look into the cavity, there should be a series of holes in the upper part of the compartment where water sprays into all the dispenser trays. These holes get gunked up and clogged and water will not dispense properly. As a result, the washer goes through a complete cycle, but the dispenser stays full. If this is the case, you can take some cotton swabs and/or toothpicks and clean these holes real good. It may be a bit meticulous, but it should take care of the problem. Post back and let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: the fabric softner dispenser does not release the

The fabric softener solenoid valve is faulty and must be replaced. It is sold as an assembly with the bleach solenoid valve with part number 997846. You need to remove the front panel to lift the top panel to inspect or replace the valves.

Front panel removal procedure:

  1. Unplug the machine.
  2. Turn off the water supply.
  3. Open the door and remove it by removing the screws on the hinges holding it.
  4. Remove the remaining two screws on the opposite side along the inside lip of the door opening.
  5. Press in on the outer upper edges of the front panel posts then twist it inward to release it from the clips on the face of the cabinet.
  6. Tilt the top of the front panel away from the washer and remove it.
  7. Remove the four screws holding the dispenser bezel to the top of the top panel.
  8. Remove the 5/16" hex head screws securing the two hold down brackets on the top panel.
  9. Swing the hold down brackets to the outside to unhook it from the slot in the top panel lip.
  10. Lift the front of the top panel and tilt it toward the rear of the machine.
  11. The dispenser valve assembly is the one on right of the water inlet valve assembly where the water supply line is attached to. The fabric softener dispenser valve is the one on the right most.
  12. Clean the terminals and the connector of the fabric softener dispenser valve.
  13. Grab a multimeter and check the resistance between its terminals. The resistance should be between 500 to 1000 ohms. If it reads open, replace the dispenser valve assembly.
  14. Remove the wire harness connections to the valve solenoids.
  15. Loosen and remove the hose clamps on the hoses.
  16. Loosen the valve mounting screws by turning it at least three full turns.
  17. Slide the valve assembly to the left and remove it from the bracket.
  18. Place a towel below the valve and remove the hoses.
  19. Install the new dispenser valve assembly in reverse order.
  20. Install the top panel, dispenser bezel, front panel and the door in reverse order of the removal procedure.

Water being left in the dispensers when the washer cycle is done

Water in the fabric softner slot is normal, but for the detergent slot you have to clean out with a tooth brush if you can't get the tray out. If there is water there it is quite a serious block, which is affecting your wash.
