Question about Kenmore 44103 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Cant seem to get the Icemaker working

This is a brand new refrigerator. I am trying to connect my icemaker. However, after connecting the water pipe from the water supply to the refrigerator connection at the bottom, the water doesnt seem to flow into the refrigerator and it causes a leak right at the connection(brass compression nut). Is there a valve that need to be opened to make the water flow into the refrigerator or what am I not doing right?

Mungah, There is no valve that needs to be turned on. The water travels through the valve into the filter and up to the ice-maker. Try pressing the water lever and stay on it until the water fills the filter and comes out. You should hear the valve energizing. The ice maker cycles every 2.5 hrs. approx. When it calls for water it may take several cycles to prime the line and fill the ice maker...As far as the leak, something is wrong with that compression connection, re-do it and see if it stops...Catriver..post back.

My lg refrigerator lsxs26326 is dispensing water but not filling ice tray up. What could be wrong?

the water solenoid valve for the water dispenser is separate from the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . get to the icemaker water supply solenoid and test it if it works alright . unplug the fridge from wall outlet do not close water supply valve. disconnect water tube connection on the water discharge side of the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . pull - out power supply connection of the solenoid coil . connect solenoid valve directly to wall outlet. a faint click should be audible and water should come out from where the tube was removed -- from the water supply discharge side. if no water is coming out with the solenoid plug in , then the solenoid is faulty. but if water comes while solenoid is powered -on , check the position of the icemaker lever. if it is on off position icemaker timer won't activate icemaker water supply valve..move icemaker lever to on and check for water pouring into the icemaker tray' if no water comes out . change the icemaker timer. thanks.

Freezer stopped making ice

Without any more information regarding the specific symptoms, diagnosis will be difficult. However, assuming that your refrigerator has a factory built-in ice maker, there are several items to check:

1. Is there water flow to the icemaker? If not, check the water supply line (small tubing) and make sure it's not clogged. Disconnect it and blow it out, then reconnect.

2. Check the small saddle valve on the water pipe where the tubing to the refrigerator connects. If it's full open, then it's possibly blocked with calcium buildup. Close your main water supply valve, remove that saddle valve and replace it with a new one. Before doing so, make sure that the hole in the water pipe is clear and full open. It may also have some calcium buildup. If so, simply drill it out with an appropriate sized drill bit.

2. The solenoid valve which activates water flow to the icemaker may have stopped functioning. Check the electrical connection to the solenoid valve and ensure power is getting to it. If it is, then the solenoid valve most likely needs to be replaced.

3. Check the manual for your refrigerator. It should include instructions on how to bypass the automatic function and *manually* start the icemaker.

Which water line or lines do I connect to refrigerator, model # ED22RFXW01, man. 08/99

It's advisable to go with flexible plastic tube with sweet water supply. Please follow the instrction as per video attached.

Even if your refrigerator comes withan automatic icemaker, you will need to connect it to a water supply for it tomake ice. While this is not a particularly difficult job it requires someknowledge of plumbing and the use of tools. ThingsYou'll Need:
  • Compression Nuts
  • Knife Or Scissors
  • T-valves
  • 1/4-inch Copper Or Plastic Tubes
  • Drill Bits
  • Variable-speed Drills
  • Drill Bits
Read theinstruction manual that came with your refrigerator. Specific instructions forhooking up the icemaker may be included. Locate thepipe nearest the icemaker that carries cold water. Most often, this is the coldwater pipe that connects to the kitchen sink. Install at-valve in the main cold water line - not on the 3/8-inch faucet tubes - sothat there are two outlets: one to the sink and one to the icemaker supplyline. Turn offthe water. Put asleeve and compression nut over the line that will supply the icemaker in orderto tightly connect it to the water line. Turn thewater back on, and, holding the end of the tubing in the sink or over a bucket, flush the line to remove any debris. Turn the water off again. Snake theline from the water source to the icemaker connection, drilling holes in thebacks of cabinets if you have to in order to push the line through. Find theicemaker inlet from the refrigerator and attach the other end of the line usinganother compression nut. Turn thewater back on. Throw awaythe first few containers of ice to be sure the line is completely clean beforeyou use the ice.

Icemaker is not making ice.

First, check to see if you have an adequate water supply. The valve connected to your cold water pipe may be obstructed. Next, does there seem to be any sounds comming from the icemaker? Also check to see if the lever that controls the amount of ice is stuck all the way up. If this is the case simply push the lever down. Generaly, ther are not many serviceable parts in the ice maker. A bad timer might also be the culprit.

Icemaker does not work

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.
