Epson RX500 My printer quit working. Its about two years old. Epson Stylus color photo all-in-one. The message it gave me was that parts in the printer were beyond their life expectancy or something like that. I understand that there's software to cure this and that the parts are not relly worn out. A kind of planned demise I guess. My question is where can I get the software? Epson said to send it to a service center or buy a new one. They also warned that the repair cost plus freight probably would exceed the cost of a new one. I hate that. Can you help? Carl Gillespie

This service message is due to the fact that epson have waste ink pads in the base of them this is to catch any excess ink every time your ink head passes back and forward it adds to a counter depending on how much ink is used every pass of the head when this message appears you are supposed to change the pads i have stripped hundreds of these and the pads are only ever around a third full so u will get roughly have to reset the message 5 times before stripping and washing out the pads (a messy job)

Sharmon, Many thanks the above fix it worked for me. Is it legal that Epson can build into there system something that defines when the printer should work and when it should not?

I had to do this procedure a couple of times. I eventually told me the yellow was out. I immediatly replaced it and the printer charged and went into its normal operation. Thanks for the suggestion I was at the end of my wits

Hi Carl I had the same thing happen to me, I did some research on the internet and there was a very wise person said to: Press and HOLD all the following buttons: Power, Load/Eject, Stop, B&W, Color. RELEASE BUTTONS. After this printer turns on, you'll see "Init eeprom" on printer screen. Press Color button to clear protection counter. It worked for me,...hope it works for you. Sharmon

Problem with my printer rx500 mesage say's parts

I posted this problem myself today but have found a solution on a tech help site, as follows:
Press and HOLD all following buttons: Power, Load/Eject, Stop, B&W, Color. Continue to hold the buttons until "Init Eeprom" appears on the printer screen. Press Color button to clear protection counter.
This worked for me, now my printer is working again.

Scanner error

Press the On button to turn off the Stylus Photo RX500. Unlock the transportation lock. Make sure that all packaging materials have been removed. Turn on your Stylus Photo RX500 again. If the error message still appears, call Epson so they can replace your printer.

Epson stylus photo RX500

Turn the printer off overnight and try the head cleaning process again. Leaving it unpowered for an extended period softens the ink and makes the cleaning more effective. It may require several cleaning cycles.

RX500 EPSOM STYLUS PHOTO PRINTER Won't Print

I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.
