Question about Sceptre DragonFlat D73F (White) 17 in.CRT Conventional Monitor

Open Question

Sceptre D73F Dragonflat Not enough contrast

Dragon eye/Dragon flat CRT monitor, 17" manufactured April 12 2001 Adjustments are on front, OSD type. This display is pale, even when brightness control is right down and contrast right up. Other settings OK. A quick look inside shows a bit of dust otherwise no obvious problems. All parts thru hole, can't see any SMD. I can't find any obvious controls or pots to adjust. Is this the end? Try your monitor on a different computer and see if you get the same result, if not, there is a problem with your pc operating system and or video card. If you get the same result, get a new lcd if it is not under warranty.

Not an expert, but from what Ive read, this is a cfl inverter issue. I had the same problem on my Sceptre. Good luck finding parts. My solution: get another monitor.

"OSD LOCKED" box on my screen

The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warning message OSD Lock displays for ten seconds.

* If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.
* If the OSD is unlocked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to lock the OSD.

OSD stands for "On Screen Display." It is an onscreen configuration menu included with various monitors. When you press the MENU button or one of the other buttons on the front or side of a monitor, the onscreen display may appear. The OSD typically includes monitor calibration options, such as brightness, contrast, and color adjustments. Some OSDs may also include horizontal and vertical position controls as well as tilt and keystone adjustments.
If you can't make adjustments to the monitor settings using the OSD interface, the onscreen display may be locked. You may also see the phrase "OSD Locked" appear when you try to change the settings. Some monitors include an option within the menu called "OSD Lock", which you can turn on or off. If this option is available, simply turn OSD Lock off and you will be able to make adjustments to the settings.
If your monitor does not include the "OSD Lock" option, you may be able to unlock the OSD by pressing and holding the MENU button on the front or side of the monitor for several seconds. If you try this method, be patient! It may take up to 15 seconds for the OSD to unlock.

Display menu virus? :(

try disconnecting your network cable and adjust the settings again, if you cant, enter safe mode by pressing f8 in the startup and select safemode then adjust the contrast there.

Or is this in the CRT monitor? inside the monitor? there are no viruses ever made for monitors. So its most likely a hardware fault in the crt. Maybe its time to buy a new one. LCD preferably easyer on your eyes.
