Question about Insignia 42" LCD Flat-Panel HDTV
The ASP Ratio feature on my Insignia ISEDPLTV42 doesn't allow a full screen view - only 2 large black areas on both the right & left sides. I have a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) hooked up to it and it was fine until my kid unplugged his XBOX from the TV. Any solutions?
The ratio you speak of is the 4x3 and the set may have locked on it--If you have not tried to: unplug the set from power for a while and plug back in to see if set will reset itself.
I presume you went into customer menu and checked to see if you have the option to change from 4x3 to full or 16x9.

I would take it back to the store and exchange it for a new one. Any problems with new equipment out of the box like that is a sign of a manufacturers defect.

I don't exactly know your model. I can give you a generic type answer.
I can tell you that when you select to have the full screen, it may not work in the mode for the tuner. The reason is that the programs coming in from your tuner are actualy 4:3. When asking for a full screen you are asking for a 16:9 type format. This would stretch a 4:3 picture.
Have you tried contacting the manufacture, or if you know their local factory support place for your area?

Press menu and use the up or down arrows to find the audio section adjustments. Press the right arrow and again use the up and down arrows to find tv speakers, Press the right arrow to either turn on tv speaker or turn them off ( This is used only if you are using the output signal from you tv in to you stereo input to have surround sound.) Turn them on to listen to sound from the television speakers only. If this does not solve your problem, Press the mute button on you remote control to release the mute function. If all this does not work the telephone number for Insignia is 1-877-467-4289. Talk to them about you problem and see if your television needs some type of service to restore the sound. Hope This helps you with your problem.
