No Sound coming from speakers

I'm not getting any sound from the speakers. It was working fine. i've checked all the connections and reseted receiver to factory default. When i assign V1 an optical input, i have no options for listening modes. it displays "Not Available". Has never happened. so i tried the FM Tuner, which doesn't require an outside source. Nothing. Speakers work, tried them on another receiver. i only get any kind of option for the mode after toggling the speaker "A" channel off and on. then i get a choice of DTS or STEREO. Neither speaker channels, A or B, work. I am completly stumped. Any options, tests or suggestions welcome.

SOURCE: ONKYO HT-S780 B SPEAKERS

Your symptom sounds as though you may have to turn off any surround sound settings that you have selected in the other modes.

Most amplifiers use the surround portion of the amplifier to power the B channel speakers.

Since you have sound when using the radio portion, I would try turning off the surround mode. For example try turning the amplifier to just stereo and see if that gets the B channel speakers to work

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

SOURCE: I am not getting the full surround sound options.

On the remote try scrolling through the settings from the DTS button and also make sure you have the correct audio source selected. I switched to the optical cable but, then found that the better sound for my room came from the RCA set-up.
Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Sound comes through only one speaker at a time.

Is the sound on both channels on a pair of headphones? If it is suspect a faulty headphone socket, especially if the speakers are cut out when the headphone jack is inserted - normally.

What does check phase mean? Must have something to do with the sound since I am not getting any from any source except am/fm but only out of one front speaker.

Hello
There is tow leads for every speaker. Out of which, one will be marked [+ve] and the other will be negative. The negative terminal of the speaker should coincide with the negative terminal of the respective output terminal from the amp. For the other speaker also, this must be the same with respect to connection. If any one connection in one speaker has been reversed, the sound effect will be effecteed. When we connect in phase, that is [+ve] and [-ve] correctly to both speakers the sound effect will be great. If one among them is reversed, the effect of one speaker will neutralise the other, and the sound spectrum also will be neutralised. Checking this connection whether it has give in correct way is calle "check phase'. OK.

Only 2ch sound on sony strde898

I understand that you have tried connecting different audio source to the Receiver as some of the audio source will output only 2 channel audio. I hope you have tried changing the Input mode and Input selector to get the surround sound.
Please disconnect the speakers with the receiver and clean the edges of receiver and speaker cables using solution like alcohol and try.
If the issue persists, please interchange the rear speakers with front speakers and vice versa and check if audio is coming to make sure that the speakers are working fine.
If the audio comes after replacing the speakers but not from surround speakers, the receiver requires service.

System was working fine and now there's no sound, but deck still does everything else.

The speaker wiring might be damaged. ( cauese :- Wires getting caught to door, Heavy weights can also seperate wires by breaking them ).
