I have 2 3850's that won't boot past the red screen. I replaced the battery and it is still stuck on that screen. I can't turn it off either. Both of these pda's had the batteries die. Any ideas at all on how to bring them back to life?
Hey, when you say red screen does this mean it says compaq on it? If it does then you need to do as follows:
Press the two lower buttons (one is defult set to Calendar shortcut, the other to iTask) and the power button simultaneously while soft reseting the ipaq. It should start up. If not contact me, as I might of got the buttons wrong, at [email protected]
I hope it helps
oops sorry not the Itask button but the 'mail' button above the iTask. I just tryed it out on my iPAQ H3850 Pocket PC and it works.

got the same red screen, pressed the soft reset button alone, it did nothing.
Tried the solution you suggest - calendar and email buttons - and get screen with expired reminder messages, but it freezes there too.
Trying the calendar and email buttons with soft reset button only takes me back to the red screen which also freezes.
