I have a Packard Bell FT 500 monitor that appears to have developed a problem with the on off switch. When turning on initially - the switch seems to be intermittent and the monitor will not stay ON. The green indicator light flickers but will not go steady. Maybe the switch is duff - so can anyone tell me where I can find a replacement switch - and a part number if possible.
I have this same problem, any idea what the details are for the caps? Thanks.

Ref: CH Jones and others who have this problem.
Whilst my monitor has been back in action for nearly a year now - I appreciate there are others out there who have the same thing happen.
All I can say is that I know nothing at all about these things and had to do a lot of digging to find the answer.
I had my power board pcb repaired by a Company called Mercom Ltd - cost me £35 - but was worth it to get it up and running again. I removed the pcb myself - packed it up and sent it to Mercom for the attention of a guy called Simon Alcock.
Their address if it helps is:
Mercom Test and Repair - Unit 5 - 31 to 33 Cowley Road
Nuffield Ind Estate - Poole - Dorset - BH17 0UJ
Email: [email protected]
Hope that may be of some help - and the end to your flashing green lights. - Very painful

LOL.. how true your Grandad was. I've got the same problem except mines intermittant cycling yellow/green so guess it could be the same problem caps maybe. My supply is made by Liteon and is a ultrasonically sealed unit so unless I cut it open to work on it it would be easier to try it on another one for the time being to see if the fault is still there I guess thus eliminating OR confirming PSU block.

March 23 2007 This problem is now resolved and the monitor fixed and working. For reference - it was nothing to do with the ON/OFF switch at all. The Power Supply / Inverter PCB had two duff capacitors. These were replaced and BINGO - a working unit. For other reference - had absolutely NO assistance from any of the users of the various Forums I tried - NO suggestions - NO nothing. I remember my Grandfather once saying "You get nothing for nothing in this world lad" Not even advice - He was right.

It was such a long time ago when I had this problem that I cannot remember specifically which 2 capacitors were changed.
I sent the PCB off to an electronics firm - they checked it and replaced the 2 caps.
From memory - there are 2 caps that are physically larger than any of the others - and both are same value. It was these.
Sorry if thats not very technical but without stripping the monitor down to have a look - thats as good as it gets I'm afraid.
Hope it helps.
Had the work done last October and monitor has been fine ever since - touch wood.

I have exactly the same fault. Green power light cycles on and off, and screen remains black.
I have opened up, and checked the circuit boards. Some slight signs of heating, but nothing to signify the faulty capacitors. Are you able to indicate which capacitors were giving the problem, or is there some way of me being able to check them myself. I only have a simple multimeter. Is it possible to check with this?
Thanks in anticipation
