Sony Trinitron KV32S42 Picture Blinks on and off 60 times per minute
I have a serious problem with my Trinitron 32" KV32S42 blinking on and Off all the time. I got tweeter technician to fix the problem. He said said ".the tube is defective not worth fixing". I brought the problem to Sony Customer Service. I spoke to 9 people. All I got is running around. for 13 days I got no where. The Sony President office said the TV was made October 199o. We purchase the TV 2002. The do not support 6-7 years old TV. I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Hi there Jomaru, I also have the same set and experienced the same problem, Never recieved a true fix .
But,What i have found is that if you remove the Video fiie cable from the KSB And re-seat it, it seem's to solve the problem.
At least temporarly, The problem has not re-occured on my set.
I hope that have the same result.

I have looked on the net for a similar problem.
It seems a common failure but yours is slight.
If you can use a voltmeter and can find where to check voltages, then try to find a (low) voltage which is going lower periodically.
You may be able to hear a relay clicking where the trouble is.
The cause which is common to these sets is probably a bad soldered component.
Use well insulated finely pointed probes to avoid shorting anything.

You can find the date of manufacture in the back label,if the set is a 1990 maybe then is not worth repairing but is only a 2002 set is only 4 yeras old and the set has most likely a good picture tube,the symptom you are giving us does not indicate a bad picture tube,you should get a second opinion ,it might something as simple as a loose conection in the horizontal drive transformer.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

Blinking of standby light in Sony sets are fault indications. You just count the number of blinks occur at a time, by switching the set ON-OFF by its front panel power switch, not by the remote control handset. Just do it for at least three or four times, count the exact number of blinks occurs there, and inform it to me through Fixya. Through the number of blinks, I can locate the faulty section, of somtimes to the exact fault location. Count it keenly and inform me. OK.
I have a Sony Trinitron 32 color tv KV 2168MTJ (quite old - 10 yrs old), and the standby light blinks exactly 200 times (just over 3 mins) before it turns on. Once it is on, it works perfectly. What's wrong with it and how can i fix it?
Seven blinks, pause, seven blinks, etc. means "Horizontal deflection stopped" and indicates a serious problem, probably on the D or DZ board (whichever is applicable).
If this is the case, the TV will have to be serviced by a professional.
sounds like a bad picture tube. Picture and bright settings cranked up for a good pic? Test/rejuv with a crt tester and/or look at the Ik signal on the crt board. A good tube has 3 small pulses during blanking. The crt cathodes are checked with these pulses, pulses too low and the jungle IC will blank the drive. If the picture fades in and out I would check the filament ckt but that doesn't support the "blinks"
