An
unusual noise coming from a running clothes dryer can cause concern,
although these noises are rarely indicative of a more serious problem.
Once the source of the noise has been located, a few simple repairs or
adjustments will usually solve the problem and restore peace to your
laundry room.
Gas
A gas dryer may emit an occasional clicking sound. This noise is caused
by the gas valve and is a normal operating sound. The clicking sound
coming from the gas valve can not be eliminated and it does not
indicate any mechanical problem with the dryer.
Warm Up
A newly installed dryer, or a dryer that has been left unused for a
period of time, may exhibit a thumping noise during the first few
minutes of the drying cycle. According to the Maytag company, this
noise is normal and should not be a cause for concern. If the noise
continues for more than a few minutes or repeats on subsequent loads,
however, then steps should be taken to locate the origin of the noise.
Clothing
Clothing can become knotted and balled up in the clothes dryer. This
can cause vibration or a load thumping noise. When this happens, open
the dryer and remove the knotted clothing. Separate the articles of
clothing and place them back in the dryer. The thumping noise should
not continue unless the clothing has become knotted again.
Vibration
Place your hands on top of the dryer and push down firmly; if the dryer
tilts to one side, the clothes dryer is not level. This can cause the
dryer to vibrate during the cycle and if the vibration is severe
enough, the surrounding walls could be damaged by the dryer. Maytag
dryers have four leveling legs installed into holes on the bottom of
the dryer. These legs are included with the dryer and should have been
screwed into the holes during installation. A wrench can be used to
adjust the legs until the dryer is stable and level.
Foreign Objects
Small objects such as coins, buttons, or paperclips can become lodged
between the drum and the sides of the clothes dryer. These items
usually end up in the dryer after being left in clothing pockets during
laundering. Turn the dryer off and remove any clothes to a laundry
basket. Allow the dryer to cool down so that you won't burn your hand
on any metal surfaces inside the dryer which may be hot. Look inside
the dryer and pay special attention to the front and rear edges of the
dryer drum. Run your fingers along the grooves where the drum connects
to the dryer to locate any foreign objects. These objects could be
bouncing around the dryer causing noise during the cycle, and then
settling into the grooves when the dryer stops making them difficult to
locate. Remember to remove all items from clothing pockets before
laundering in the future to avoid this problem.
Hi,
It is normal for the dryer to make sound due to the high velocity of air moving through the dryer drum and exhaust system.
A clicking noise may be the timer advancing.
Check the load for objects such as coins, nails, etc. Remove promptly from dryer.
It is normal to hear the dryer gas valve or heating element cycle on and off during the drying cycle.
The dryer should be level and installed on a solid floor.
Good Luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

1) Make sure valve is open all the way 2) some machines have a screen inside of the hose hook up which could be clogged. 3) last check to see if it is the hot or cold by switch your selector switch on your machine to hot then cold. If one of these positions eliminate the noise then the valve in the machine is bad.
check what is called an idler or tension pully. lubricating these can somestimes help but only a temporary fix. actualy its not a fix. only makes it quiet. replace them or call service these parts are easily accessable
