I agree with techman, but I call it the start-up supply, which gives the Switch Mode Power Supply Intergrated Circuit, a supply (V+).
This supply is about 10 to 30 Volts and supplies a few milliamps of current to the integrated circuit (SMPS) which starts giving out pulses.
The pulses switch on and off the Line Output Transistor, or a Power Transistor which energises a transformer.
The transformer provides all the voltages required to work the rest of the circuits. One if these voltages takes over from the-start up supply.
The failure is usually the Power Transistor, or the Transformer (line output).
Replacing the Transistor will usually bring the set to life, but it may fail again due to the fault which caused the transistor to blow.
The only solution is to get a service engineer who will check the components before switching on again.

This is an indication that the sweep power supply did not give the turn on pulse from the SMPS, thats the main power supply. If you know how to use a multimeter I will send you the instructions to troubleshoot this supply. Or you may need to trouble shoot the sweep supply as well. If you have no electronic or solid state repair experience, Please stay safe and call in a trained tech to assist you with this repair. Good Luck

Hi, do you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on? if you do it could be your ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.Do you hear buzzing, whirling, winding or spinning noises? if you do it could be an issue with the color wheel which is in charge of creating the colors on your tv. If you don't hear any of this and tv is between 2-4 yrs it's most likely time to replace lamp.http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=+%09+BP9600826A part number is BP9600826A but it seems there's 2 lamp with the same model, you have to check if you have the small and square lamp with 4 corners and 2 ventilation holes or the big lamp that is completely closed.God bless you have a good one.

Trung,
There are many possibilities and most of them have to do with the "D" board, Sony p/n# A1346948A but testing is something generally beyond the scope of those less than technically equipped. You could order the whole board and put it in but that might be more than the simple fix you wanted or you wouldn't be here. So my best advice is to take it in to a qualified shop and have them estimate and repair it.. I see 3 or 4 of these sets in my shop a month, Sony XBR, and they're still very much worth the repair..
