    Good Morning,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Yes it looks your diagnose is wright.

The problem is still exist. My oven works not more than 4 minutes, then it should cool down and

the power is turned back. After this the clock would have to be reprogrammed.

What is the solution of this problem.

I am assuming that my microwave is over heating and shuting down - I really only use it to re-heat and occasionally cook baccon. I can't cook in it any more. After 6 to 8 minutes (combined times) it will stop working. After it rests for 20-30 minute it will start working again. It has been doing this for 6 - 12 months (can't remember when it started), but seems to be getting worse. Is it worth trying to fix?

It sounds like the magnetron overheated, tripping the magnetron thermostat. Then when it cooled down, the power was turned back on.

This protects the magnetron from overheating.

Overheating can occur if the internal cooling fan fails or if the magnetron is bad, or if it is run without anything inside or run too long, especially with something like popcorn or baked potatoes.

Does this sound like what happened?

    How is it now?

    Did this happen just once?

It sounds like your magnetron overheated and triggered the thermostat, which shut down power until it cooled down.

Assuming that your internal cooling fan is working, I would suspect that your magnetron is failing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the
left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

I would check the cooling fan, then suspect the magnetron.

GE Spacemaker XL - fan stopped working, light will come on and timer will count down.

either the magnatron fried , or the fuse fried... either way the microwve has to be taken down and opened up.
If you have the serial number , GE will send you a replacement magnatron (but will not service the unit for you).
contact GE and they will take care of you... the magnatrons are warranted for like 10 years....
