Question about Sylvania L181 18.1" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

Sylvania L181 stays white in standby

I saw an earlier post on this same problem, but I don't think the posted solution addressed the issue. I have a Sylvania L181. In the Windows XP Power options, I have asked for the monitor to be turned off after 5 minutes of inactivity. When the 5 minutes passes (I've tried varying periods of inactivity), the image from the computer goes away but the LCD turns completely white. I expect the LCD to go into a standby mode and for the screen to be black. The L181 seems to be doing the opposite - staying completely lit (bright white). It's almost like the LCD is doubling as a light bulb! The solution posted for a similar issue on this message board explained why the On/Off button blinks twice to indicate the LCD is in a "soft" off mode. This is fine, but it still does not explain why the LCD remains lit when it should be in standby (off). Thanks for any help you can provide!

My Sylvania model LC370SS8 will stay on for a few minutes then go to standby but if I take the back off so it can get air it stays on for 30 mins or so

Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. I have a sylvania flat screen 46 inch TV and will not turn on. It stays in standby mode. Any quick fix?

Do a hard reset to this set, and check. To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If it do not help you, check and replace the damaged component/s at its main board. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. I bought a Craftsman radial arm saw years ago at an auction. No where on the saw can I find a model number. There is a model number for the motor. the number is KS48 DG-214. Can you help?

You might want to have a look at some of the manuals available online at this site. Perhaps there is something there of the same general vintage that will help you to answer your questions. I think there is some kind of stamped plate on the back of the saw, either on the column or the table base itself. I don't really remember, and mine is buried into a cutoff table and inaccessible. Otherwise, you could try looking up the motor model number at the sears online site at www.managemylife.com. Good luck.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

I have an Emachines computer with Windows Ultimate Vista on it. While I am using my computer it wi8ll go white and it won't come back on, I push the Windows butten so I can get back on internet.

Hi,

Windows Vista is the worst OS ever brought out by Microsoft. You need to upgrade to Windows 7 or downgrade to Windows XP. As long as you keep using Vista you will always have problems.

Best wishes,

When I power off my LCD monitor, the screen goes all white, but once I turn the monitor back on it goes right back to displaying whatever it should on the screen. Or when I shutdown the computer it also...

If this has happened to two monitors on the same computer, then i dont think the problem is with monitors, i think the problem is with the graphics on the computer, i suggest uninstalling the driver for the graphics card in device manager and then restart the pc to see if that makes any difference. The divice manager in in the properties of my computer icon, just right click and choose properties, then device manager.

My monitor will not shut down - screen stays white

You got a short circuit in one transistor located at the inverter area. The transistor is acting like a conductor and not shutting down the power to the back light inverter. If you are a technician and want to fix it, look for short circuits in transistors.

Good luck.

Can't tilt blade more than 15 degrees

Something is not set up right, or not bolted together correctly. It should not be able to disengage. Is that the saw with a separate tilt lock from the crank, or are they one and the same?
That could be a serious safety hazard and should be addressed and resolved before using the saw. If it can come unlock during cutting, it could cause a kickback or injury.
If you have to, get someone to help you flip it over upside down and have a good look at the insides, or stand on your head and get up in there.
I worked on setting one of these up once, and seem to remember some similar blade tilt issue, but can't recall how it was resolved. I think the instruction sheet may have been faulty somehow, and we had to redo some process in another order to get it right.
Anyway, it worked ok once we got it going.
Good luck. Be careful.
