Question about Samsung Prostar 816 Phone

Prostar 816 On-hold ring-back feature

We have owned a Prostar 816 phone system for about 8 years and never had an on-hold ringback feature on our system to any of the phones. Suddenly about a month ago whenever we put someone on hold, within 20 seconds the phone is ringing back. First to the original person then, if no one picks up it rings back to reception. How can I program this to stop? Thanks.

Our nortel T7316E does not ringback after 20 seconds when someone is put on hold. How do I turn this feature back on. When putting a customer on hold, we need it to ring back to the original person who answered after 20 seconds, then if not answered, ring back to reception.

You can stop the recall function on any indidual call by double pressing the hold key to invoke exclusive hold. Watch this clip or see many more at www.AbbeyTelecom.com

To change the hold recall timer on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming)
The code for hold recall is #52
enter in your hold recall time in sec. and in a 3 digit format. i.e. 30 seconds = 030 a minute and a half is 090 and so on.
press # when finished

Samsung Prostar 816

If you have a programming manual you can change the settings on your own. If not, you will need to contact the installer or a local interconnect company that services Samsung. It seems as though the memory switch inside the ksu is turned off. If that's the case, it needs to be turned on and if not, you either have problem with the ksu or the power outage was a brownout. Sometimes a very short loss of power can cause corruptions in memory, however I seriously doubt it in this case. Your system is acting as though it's memory has been set to default.

Good Luck,

it sounds like the memory battery on the main board is no longer working which means that it'll happen again.

The battery is dead and will not maintain system programing after a power outage. If the battery is not replaced this problem will occur everytime the power goes out.

Some of the buttons don't work and the Hold function doesn't work

The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.
