Question about Akai PT4799HD Rear Projection Television
My Akai PT4799HD Projection TV's picture all of a sudden became distorted and started to smell like "electrical" burning. The TV is less than 2 years old and has been otherwise perfect. What is the problem and is it worth the expense to repair it (if possible)?
One of the components in the horizonatl deflection circuit went bad like a capacitor, the price will depend on the actual part that went bad and your location, the service call in NY could be 300.00 but in pittsburgh might only be 150.00.I still belive is wort repairing.

Your rating response is also important.
Finding a degraded(burned)component should not be hard to spot ,after locating it it should be replaced with an exact replacement,if you familiar with tv service you can remove the back cover and take a look it might be very visible but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
