Connect the external monitor to the video port (15 pin Dsub connector) on your laptop. Power up the external monitoe first and the boot up the laptop. The video data will automatically divert to the external monitor.

SOURCE: Connecting a VCR machine to a Lap Top Computer.

NO,both the S video on the laptop and the S video on the vcr are
S video out.

You can get a RCA (with audio and video) to USB cord that will work.

SOURCE: How do you connect an LCD monitor to lap top

The solution from Joed911 it's totally right, but unfourtanly this laptop has an air ventilation that it's covered with LCD when it gets closed, and the manufacturer doesn't recommend you do that, may be you could try not to close completly the LCD, in that way you'll permit the correct ventilation.

SOURCE: how do i get my acer 5715z laptop to work with

Cause If you connected the monitor power already is on, you may not get signal. Power plug off the monitor first, Then connected to laptop. Then power the laptop and power the monitor. FN key press hold with your Monitor swicthing key which symbol of two monitor shows on key probably number 5 or 6 maybe 7 check user guide if you have it.
another cause is your monitor may need driver install in your laptop, Some system required that. Check monitor system requirements.

SOURCE: how to force external monitor on lap top monitor

To be able to use the external monitor, first boot in safe mode. Then in the Display settings when you see two monitors select the external monitor. set its resolution to a shade lower than the displayed. (you can adjust it later.) Now reboot in normal mode and press the Fn key alongwith the key to transfer the display from LCD to monitor (this happens to be different for all makes of laptops). It has an LCD and a monitor made on it.

Compaq Presario CQ50-110US 15-inch Laptop dropped will boot but no video

Your laptop may have a combination of problems. Since the laptop was dropped, it is possible that your may a motherboard that no longer outputs video through the video controller, or the screen may have been damaged internally. Try hooking up an external monitor through the vga output of your laptop, usually located on the side or back of the laptop. If the external monitor works, then most likely it is your screen that's bad, if the external monitor doesn't works, then most likely it is your motherboard that's bad.

Let me know if this helps.

My lap top r 4000 light up and fan works but no display could this be the battery I replaced the power supply today

Hook it up to an external monitor, if that works. Might need a new Lcd display or at least an Inverter. May be a pinched wire near the hinge of the lcd display.

Doubt it's a batter problem, plug in the power supply , take out the battery and try.

I cannot get my lap top to show on the all with my projector

Laptop will often have a function key (usually F5) for cycling between built-in display, external monitor, and both. Try pressing F5. If that doesn't work and you have a "Fn" key (usually near the left Shift key) hold down Fn and press F5.

Can't get picture back on lap top after connecting to ext monitor

Hello there. You sound very frustrated. try this, go into your BIOS settings and cycle the settings for your vga adapter, or even reseting the options to basic performance. also, you could hook up the external monitor and disable it while it's hooked up. that should fix any problems with that(if you still have an extra.)
