A week ago I purchased a Canon Ixus 970 digital camera. When using in dark conditions yesterday, I noticed two bright blue dots on the LCD screen. I've switched the camara off and on again and have taken the battery out and replaced it again, but they are still there in exactly the same place. Is this normal for a digital camera? I've had a couple of cheapo's before but have never had this problem. So it seems a bit strange that I have these irritiating dots on a £200 camera. Should I return the camera or is this considered normal? Are they "dead" pixels? Any advise would be appreciated.

You could try taking it back to the store if the (what seems like) the dead pixels are "distracting" you or "annoying" and if you are lucky you might get it exchanged.

It partially depends on the amount of the dead pixels present as for an LCD screen to be classed as being defective 0.01% of all of the pixels on the screen must be "dead".

God luck if you will try to exchange it.

How to plug back the lcd connector on a ixus 970

if it is a standard ribbon connector that you are trying to reconnect you will find there is a small piece of the connector that either slides up or hinges upwards through 90 degrees. this releases the clip pressure to reinsert the ribbon then closing it holds it secure

Flash will not fire on Canon SD780 IS Elph

The flash circuit is defective. As it's only a couple weeks old, recommend just exchanging it for another from your place of purchase. You shouldn't be attempting repair while its under warranty.

Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several

If these are single pixels on the LCD screen, they are normal. From pg. 8 of the user's guide:

"The LCD monitor is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD monitor. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the images in any way. "

This may also be helpful.

"images may trail across the LCD monitor in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. When turning on the camera in a cold location, the LCD monitor may become temporarily dark. "

Camera thinks memory card is locked

check the pins where the memory card enter, if they are all there (not bended) go to canon site and download the latest framework.

P.S, mack sure to use the right SD Card type as the camera is compatible with some types and with a limited size only.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
