CANON PIXMA MP830 Error Msg: Scanner not working correctly.

Canon MP830 was being used solely as a standalone copier. It was used to copy and enlarge 4x6 photographic prints. It was not connected to any computer. After months of normal operation, one day, for no apparent reason, it ceased copying and instead produced the error message: "Scanner is not operating correctly." The scanner is definitely unlocked. And turning the unit off for a while (and even unplugging it) as the manual suggests, did nothing whatever to resolve the problem. Which of you troubleshooting geniuses out there can solve this mysterious problem?

My Canon MP830 Scanner moves about 1/4 inch each time i turn it on, but will nothing will operate. The message reads, "Turn off and Unlock scanner" every time I try to use it. It was not locked. It worked fine for the 5 years I had it, now it moves just slightly each time I turn it on until it finally gets to the right hand side, then I can hear the belt skipping on the gear before it stops with the same message to turn off and unlock scanner, even though it is never locked. Any ideas? Other then tossing it out? Thanks, Chuck.

My canon pixma mp830 shows error code 5010. what

The scanner lock switch may be in the locked position. Lift the cover and check the slide switch located on the top front left. If this is not the problem, you will have to have a service center look at the problem.

You need to check the operator's manual. For the messages it gives, there is usually a solution for it.

My multifunction Canon Pixma MP830 will not scan. I downloaded drivers again but scan button does nothing once "start is initiated"

Will it copy standalone? If it does.
Then it is a software problem or bad cable.
If so you need to uninstall the MP navigator and reinstall without an usb cable attached.Attach a good cable and let Windows install the correct drivers

Feed switch & alrm light on

The MP 830 usually will give you an error code in the display. If these lights just come on and you don't hear anything moving inside and no error codes, the main logic board could be bad. A rather expensive repair. Have you tried unplugging the printer and plugging in again?

Canon PIXMA MP830 Error Message: Scanner is not operating correctly.

This problem sucks. It sounds like the scanner has actually gone bad. This can be a couple of things. The actual ccd unit inside the scanner, a position sensor, a motor or a wire harness.

The latter two are fairly unlikely, the first two more likely. Most probable is the CCD unit. I don't think Canon sells it as a separate piece, but it comes inside a replacement scanner assembly. These complete scanner units are expensive. You'll have to check with your local Canon shop to see what they cost.

Canon mp 830 getting error 5000

Canon site if the link does not work just go to canon.com -> support-> select Multifinction --> Inkjet --> Pixma MP830

Then type in - error code 5000 - (Leave off the " - "
Select #3 - ERROR LCD: Error code (5xxx through 9xxx) appears on the display -

1. Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device
2. Press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF to reset the printer
3. Removing paper jams MP800R / MP830 / MP530
4. The MP830 may require repair
5. Unlock the scanner lock switch (MP800R / MP830)

The links above detail each instruction. If they do not work here then got directly to the Canon Site.

Basically at one point there was a paper jam so clear it and then reset the machine.
Worked for me. Good luck to you :)
