Canon MP830 was being used solely as a standalone copier. It was used to copy and enlarge 4x6 photographic prints. It was not connected to any computer. After months of normal operation, one day, for no apparent reason, it ceased copying and instead produced the error message: "Scanner is not operating correctly." The scanner is definitely unlocked. And turning the unit off for a while (and even unplugging it) as the manual suggests, did nothing whatever to resolve the problem. Which of you troubleshooting geniuses out there can solve this mysterious problem?
My Canon MP830 Scanner moves about 1/4 inch each time i turn it on, but will nothing will operate. The message reads, "Turn off and Unlock scanner" every time I try to use it. It was not locked. It worked fine for the 5 years I had it, now it moves just slightly each time I turn it on until it finally gets to the right hand side, then I can hear the belt skipping on the gear before it stops with the same message to turn off and unlock scanner, even though it is never locked. Any ideas? Other then tossing it out? Thanks, Chuck.
