My GE WPSQ4160T washer has gone through 2 clutches in the last year. It works fine in all modes except the spin cycle where it sometimes will not spin the tub with medium to large loads. The washer is NOT being overloaded. The motor is coming on but the clutch is slipping in the spin mode and gets very hot. The belt has also been replaced. Any help appreciated.
I have a GE washer and my problem is that do the washing just fine. but when it goes for the rinsing won't take water. I have to pur water manually with a hose so it can go then to the spinning..

Gnarly, do you have the updated motor, harness and start cap? If it goes into spin and does this chunk a chunka chunka bit. Take a meter to the white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V, replace the motor with the new kit. What the motor is doing is jogging between high to low speed. Catriver..post back.

My GE Top load washer. Is making a chunka chunka and or a loud clack, clack noise and is not spining or agetating very well. All the lights in my house are flickering during this time. What's the fix and will it break the bank?

Gnarley, did you try what was suggested about the updated motor. I am having the same issue, but am wondering how you tested your clutch for overheating vs. the obvious; touch.

Catriver, Thanks for the feedback. The motor seems to be working fine as far as I can tell. The wash cycles work fine. When the spin cycle starts, the motor engages the clutch, but will not turn the drum do to the load. When I first replaced the clutch, it worked fine for about 2 weeks, then began slipping again. Does this sound like the motor? What is this update kit you mentioned?
Thanks,
Gnarley
I finally solved this problem. It had nothing to do with the motor. The brake mechanism below the transmission was causing friction when the spin cycle started and was causing the clutch to slip. This was caused by a leaking tub seal earlier which apparently dripped on the brake. I sprayed the brake with ACF-50 anti corrosion spray and all is well. - Gnarley
Where exactly did you apply the spray to the brake?
This is the exact problem I have and I have replaced the belt, motor and clutch.
I'd like to know what exactly was the spray lubricant that was used, where I can buy it and exactly where it needs to be sprayed. Please reply back asap.
My washer will not spin. At the end of the wash cycle it makes a clicking sound and still tries to agitate buy will not go into the spin cycle.
