Tape door won't open on eject?

The tape door on a JVC BR-S822DXU won't open on eject...dirty or failed optical sensor? Anyone have experience with this malfunction? Thanks!

JVC BR822 525 cannot be put into tape. There was a recent problem with my JVC822 and JVC 525. Its door put the tape in the doorway, the door could not be opened, the heads would spin for a moment after plugging in and stop. The panel LED display is all 00000 Occasional failure code 04. I consult Chinese library data and show that the pole may be a serious fault or the loaded pole needs to be adjusted. Who has experience?

The door on these machines opens via a mechanical lever when the cassette is ejected. Most likely this lever has broken or become dislodged so it is not being operated by the cassette housing.

I have 5 of these machines and have performed multiple repairs and maintenance on every one. The cassette loading mechanism, due to its complexity on this model, is prone to little pain-in-the-**** problems like that. I "fix" it by slowly and carefully cycling the worm gear (right side) by hand using a dental pick. First, you have to align the tape in the carriage so it will go down all the way, then slowly work it back up and out until you can pull it out of the slot. You may have to manually hold the "front flaps" in to allow the tape to eject.

Then I remove the carriage, which requires you to remove the 3 front panel screws on the top, then pulling the top half of the front panel out enough to clear the tape carriage, because we're going to remove that next. Remove the 6 screws which hold the carriage in, then carefully pull the connector off the carriage board. Set the carriage on a flat surface, and use a 9 volt battery against the motor terminals to activate it. Insert a tape and, while gently pushing the tape in, touch the 9 volt battery to the motor terminals. If the tape goes in and all the way down, the carriage is okay - but try it a few times to be sure. Reverse the battery connections to eject the tape.

Most of the time, this is all you need to do. The carriage on this machine has its moods, and often malfunctions for no apparent reason. Reinstall it (don't forget to plug the connector back in), and you're good to go. If there is an actual problem with the carriage, you'll have to figure out how to fix it, or spend almost $200 on a new one from JVC. Or send it to me and I'll fix it for $50.

Many times I've heard my tape will not eject, most of the time unpluging the unit from the wall for about 10 minutes and then plug it back in,this resets the microprocessor and it goes bak to normal and the tape ejects.I hope it works. Please rate this solution if it does.

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)

HELP! JVC-BRS822U ejectomatic

I have a similar problem on a SONY SLV-700HF. It may be a drive belt problem with the take-up spool not gathering the tape. I'll be interested in any other suggestions before I pay out the $30 or so for a set of new belts.

No chroma on playback

Bad heads may produce a loss of color in playback. If you have a spare head, swap it out and confirm this.
