Canon i860 "printer offline" but light is blinking

The printer says "offline" and there is no option to put it "online". Also, when I go to print, the light flashes green as if it's about to print, then it stops and I get the "Error; printer offline" thing. When I go to print monitor, the Canon i860 is there twice. The main one isn't an option, though there is a green check mark next to it. The one that is a highlighted option is the Canon i860 Copy1. Frustrated..... Any suggestions?

I have the same problem, but I have a Mac... I can't find a menu or control panel where I can switch it to online.

My Canon MG3222 printer keeps going offline. It is ok for a couple of days, then this happens. What do I do to keep it online?

Move mouse pointer on to your printer icon in the Printer folder. Does a right click and click on the sixth line of the menu (“Use printer on line”). Then it will change as “Use printer offline”. Make sure the printer is set as default printer.

Printer off line means it is not set to print. You need to set it to online either with a lever or a button. It will go online and then it will print. It doesn't mean online like on the net just online ready to print with your computer.

You may just need to make it your default printer. Click on printer in the control panel and choose this printer as default. Delete any other printer that isn't in use.

Go to you printer icon in the printers folder, right click on both printers mentioned and cancel all documents. Firsly disconnect printer from usb or parallel port. Next uninstal both printers as the copy one refers to a second installation.(right click, then either uninstal or remove) Insert your cd driver disc and install driver, then when prompted connect printer. If again this fails, then either try another cable or connect in another port.

First go to your PC. Press start, settings, printers and fax. Right click the printer icon and you can turn it online from there. there is most likely no online button on the machine itself.

SOURCE: canon i860 error codes

Try this: With your i860 printer turned ON, press and hold the I/O switch then pull off the power cord. This will turn off your printer. But without lifting your finger on the I/O switch put back your power cord. the I/O switch will blink for a second and will go off, then turn-on your printer again and see if it works.

My Cannon i860 is blinking an amber light five times and then returns to green then blinks amber five times and so on. What is this error telling me?

I too went through all the cleaning processes on my i860 with its amber light blinking five times to one of green. After all that time and effort, I ordered a new head, replaced it, put the old ink carts back in, and presto, worked like a charm. Don't waste time and money doing anything else.
