Question about Sony KP-61HS30 TV
Uniontrip, im afraid you have a problem some other 3 illion other rear tube projection set owners face or will face in the near future. Its called a convergence problem. You see there are Two IC's inside this set that correct the alighnment of the three picture tube alighnment to each other to get a steady straight picture. To fix this problem, both IC's should be replaced together as a whole, even if its only one IC bad now, you can bet your bottom dollar, down the road, the other will go bad as well. If you have any solid state repair experience and know how to unsolder and solder printed circuit boards, this is not really a difficult job to do, as they are two black IC's standing up against a metal heatsink and the lettering on them will start with STK###-###, the # being other numbers. Now since these are solid state sets and they really have noi USER replaceable parts inside them, it is always best for the non experienced to refer to a trained repair technician to do this sort of repair. Most of the time, a repair such as this, should not exceed a couple to a few hundred bucks. Good luck. Please do not forget to rate this thread.
