Tv does not turn on

When the power button is turned on i here a click and then the timer/standby light flashes for a few seconds and then i here another click and then the light just flashes but no picture or sound. Does anybody know what the problem is? and if so is this something that i can fix myself.

have the same problem with my 60 inch sony rear projection tv. Power up and the standby light blinks a couple times, then stops. If i keep the power button depressed it goes into a loop where the standby blight blinks endlessly. Thanks for the help.

Most likly not Im sorry to say! This is a common problem in the sweep power supply or the main power supply. If you have the ability to trouble shoot the power supply with a multimeter I will send you the directions, but you must understand the terms and what is what first.. If you do then by all means get back to me. If you do not know how to troubleshoot solidstate electronics, please do yourself a favor, seek out a pro to assist you, as there are no user serviceable parts inside these sets. good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread

Hi Techman, I have the same problem with my tv, the standby light blinks 7 times, there is no picture but sound is okay, then the TV turns off and the light blinks 3 more times. I had learned to work on solid state devices about 15 years ago in school and I do have a multimeter but no practical experience. Should I try fixing it myself, but if I need to change a diode/ic/capacitor would they be available in the market? Thanks Fixy

Timer light is flashing but tv wont turn on!

When the timer light stoped flashing the remote control would not turn on the TV. The next time the light quit flashing I held the power button in on the TV for about 5 seconds and it came on and has had no problems since then with the remote or the local TV power button.
