Shut off the 'hold' button on the side

Yes, just unlock with de special button on the same side of +/- volume and open ur mp3 . Bye

My i pod plays a few seconds of a song and stops!

Your I-pod is in "shuffle mode". To remove it out of shuffle mode, turn the shuffle mode switch to "off" This switch is located on the bottom right side of unit.

The lock switch no longer operates properly. When player is switched from lock to unlock, it will remain in locked mode. You have to jiggle the switch back and forth a lot to convince it that it isnt...

If you have not yet gotten a solution. Maybe you turned on the hold mode by accident, which you should check. This would eliminate the shut off. You can also if possible, backup your music while the device is pluged into your computer and reset it. At times, these little device malfunction because of moisture etc.
