Question about Samsung Yepp YH-J70 Digital Media Player
The message "Device cannot HDD initialize" is usually a sign that the hard drive has failed. The sole solution is to install a new hard drive; the one installed in most YH-J70s is a Toshiba MK2004GAL. I have heard unconfirmed suggestions that a Compact Flash card can be installed in place of the hard drive and that it plugs in but I have not tried this.
@auntieannie2: replacement batteries are easy to find in the UK at least - try Googling for "samsung yh-j70 battery pack"

Did you try pushing the reset button and/or reinstalling the software? sometimes that helps. Also, I have a question for you: I am thinking of replacing the battery on my yh-j70, as it is getting weak, was it easy for you to open the player and can you then simply pull out the battery or do you have to solder? Would you happen to know where batteries can be bought for this unit? Thank you

Hi,
I am receiving the same error Device cannot HDD initialize. I have a Samsung YH-J70. I tried opening the device, removing the battery and reinstalling it but the error stil remains. There is some talk in some forums about connecting the HDD to the motherboard. How do I check this in yh-j70? I have not used the device roughly and have not even dropped it once so there is no way the HDD can be damaged. Can anyone help?
