Split screen from DVD player, cable is fine no problem
I had an old DVD player on my Sony but it would not play certain formats and stopped working. So I replaced is with a newer DVD player with progressive scan - Samsung. The picture is split and compressed at an angle. When input is from the cable the picture is good.

It is not clear where you say input is from cable, do you mean the Scart input to your Sony TV?
Do not use Progressive scan(p), as this is not interlaced. The normal TV requires an interlaced(i) picture of 50 half frames per second giving 25 complete pictures per second to reduce flicker.
Some TVs and projectors and all monitors accept Progressive scan.

Hello there, the JVC unit can play 2 video file formats these are JPEG/MPEG. To watch video you need to have USB audio and video cable for ipod/iphone, KS-U30 to the usb cable from the rear of the unit. When this connection has been made you touch [SRC] then select iPod. When you connect your ipod/iphone to the USB terminal if it is not selected automatically you can select it from the SRC menu. You can check this out on page 49 of the user guide. Also the unit only supports certain file formats which are mpeg and jpeg and also of a certain resolution. This can also be found on page 59 of the user guide. Hope this support has been helpful? HI, Check the manuel some DVD Players do not support
DVD RW or -R +R formats. When Ifirst put my burned movie in I got the
message that the player cant play that format Just ignore that and
advance the Video to where the movie is starting then all my burned
movies played fine. My Pioneer BD 51 FD does support DVD RW +R -R
formats so be sure that you can play burned DVD RW +R -R on your Sony
player. I was in Wal Mart the other day and they had some DVD players
on sale but on the box it said that they do not play DVD RW +R or -R
Burned DVD's so be careful if you do buy another one I went to best buy
and found mine. Check first it will save a lot of hassle later. This
software works great but it may not play in your DVD Sony Player there
is a list here of compatible DVD Players
I have a Sony 46" LCD TV. I have a Direct TV HD converter box, a Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S360 Blu-Ray player, and a Pioneer DVD-Audio player connected to my Pioneer Elite Home Theater receiver. I have my Pioneer DVD-A player connected via Fiber-Optic cable. When i play a DVD or a DVD-A on my Pioneer DVD-A player, all of my speakers work fine, but when i play a dvd on my blu-ray player, all the speakers work except my subwoofer. How can I fix this problem?
I had the same problem. It turned out to be my cable that went from the dvd player to the TV. I replaced with new cable & everything worked fine again. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.
some tapes you put in mite be made of the computer witch some times does'nt work or your dvd's are scratched up. my old dvd player did that same thing (i bought a new 1 at the end it worked fine after)
The progressive scan can work only throug progressive scan CTV.. while some of the newest DVD player today has a progrissive... now you must turn OFF the progressive scanof your DVD on the set-up menu to see the real screen display.
If you are using just a "yellow" ended cable for the video, maybe your custom settings are set to use "component"? I have been using this same dvd player for a while with the component video out and it works fine. I hope this helps.
I wonder if you are trying to play burned dvds, if so that could be a major issue alot of players won't play burned disks, others will only play certain ones. another thing I have had problems with, though i don't know a fix. My samsung sometimes has a similar issue where it flat out will not play certain company dvds.
