How to receive fax

I do not know how to receive a fax. In fact I just started faxing period. The manual just shows how to set up the ringer, transmission and etc. I had someone fax me something and I didn't get it, but the report stated that it came and it was ok. The person told me to look in the memory and of course the manual said a different printer had that feature but not the MFC 210c. I went to the store where I purchased the printer and I was instructed to unplug for 15 minutes in order for the printer to reboot and again nothing happened. HELP !!!!!!!

My mfc fax machine will not ring and will not receive faxes. I can send them out though

It's probably set to manual receive and the ringer volume is low or off.

How to set machine to receive incoming fax?

Quoted from the manual: The HP all-in-one will not automatically answer calls. You must receive all faxes manually by pressing Start Fax Black or Start Fax Color. For information on receiving faxes manually, see Receive a fax manually. You might use this setting if the majority of calls on this phone line are voice calls and you rarely receive faxes.

We cannot receive incoming faxes without first picking up the phone and then hitting the start button - how do we get the fax machine to work automatically.

Should be in the operators manual. You need to change the setting, through the control panel, to "autoanswer". You can print out the current settings by pressing the "menu" button, scrolling to "user settings" and print from there. You can also select the number of rings before the machine picks up, and the volume of the ringer.

I can not receive a fax

First, make sure the phone line to the fax is plugged into the LINE socket, NOT THE PHONE socket on the machine. Next, try calling your fax machine from a cell phone to see if the fax answers. If no answer, you may have to go into FAX SETTINGS or FAX SETUP from the Lexmark menu. You may have to change any or all of the following: RINGER SETTINGS, AUTO RECEIVE, RECEIVE MODE, TONE/PULSE DIALING, OVERSEAS MODE, ETC. Trial and error getting the Lexmark to answer calls from the cell is probably the easiest way. BEFORE YOU START, print out or write down each setting you may change. This way, if it does not work, you can go back to the original setting.

Incoming Phone Ringer

After months of trying to solve this problem I finally figured out that the machine was set to phone/fax mode instead of fax only. If you have a dedicated fax line you can set to FAX ONLY MODE. In FAX ONLY MODE you can control whether or not the machine rings when it receives a fax call. You do this by selecting Data Registration, Press Set and use the up and down arrows to select 4. RX Settings. Press Set and use the up and down arrows to display the item you want to set or change and turn the ringer OFF. Press Set.

How to set Ans/Fax receiving mode of SCX-4521F?

Try setting the receive mode to FAX/ANS. If you want the fax not to pickup before a phone call comes in, you should set the number of fax rings to a higher number, like "5" for instance. Set the answering machine rings less and the fax higher. The machine will usually record a message first and then detect a fax tone.

Manual can be found here: http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/FileView.aspx?cttfileid=526982&type=Multi+Function+Printer&typecode=16&subtype=Laser+MFP&subtypecode=&cmssubtypecode=1601&model=SF-5100I&filetype=UM&language= Does the unit ring at all? If it does do the following (taken from the manual) Receiving automatically in FAX mode 1. Press Rcv.Mode/Contrast until the display shows ?FAX MODE?. 2. When you get a call, the machine answers the call on a specified number of rings and receives a fax automatically. You can change the number of rings. See ?RINGS TO ANSWER? on page 5.4. To adjust the ringer volume, see ?Adjusting volume? on page 2.8. If the phone is not ringing, then the call is never even getting to your fax machine. Hope this helps If you need more information, please ask before rating this solution. Ed
