SOURCE: Unit shuts itself off after a minute or two.

Try taking a can of compressed air and spray in the vents in the front and the back of the heater. The heater has a sensor that gets dusty and causes it to shutoff to prevent overheating.

The heater should function properly once the dust is blown off the sensor.

Good luck!

SOURCE: all pro heater runs for a couple of minutes.then

it only shuts down because of an overheating condition or the lack of fuel. if you have an ohm or multimeter, check the ohms on the fan and see if you have any resistance. If you do the fan is good but may still not be putting enough air across the heat exchanger to safely alloww the heater to run without causing a fire.

SOURCE: honeywell surround heater shuts off

Had the same problem. The cause: The coils have too much dust on them.
Soultion: Take the bottom of the base off and clean/vacuum. While the base is off, you also have access to the interior of the heater. Remove the 2 screws on the bottom front, then the 2 on the bottom back. The plastic panels will come off and you'll have access to all internal areas. Just clean thoroughly and you should be good to go. You wouldn't realize it, but even with a spotless house, the heater will **** any small particle of dust.

SOURCE: paloma tankless water heater won't stay on during operation.

I have a Paloma model RUTG-74PVP, I had the same problem after less than a year. The unit would operate for about 90 seconds and then shut off with an error code of C13. Paloma kept trying to blame it on "lack of combustable oxygen" ,, my unit is in the attic, so we added more soffit vents and an electric attic fan. We still had the problem and Paloma blamed it on the lack of a condensation trap (so I added one), & then on the 1" dedicated LP Gas line (so I had the propane guy come run a water column test). Finally, 4 months later , Paloma had a service man come down (100 miles away) to see what was wrong (He told them to replace it. They paid for the unit and labor. It ran perfect for about 9 months and then started doing it again. So I called the same representative and asked if they were gonna replace this one too? He said nope, it's no longer under warranty. But he did tell me how to fix it this time. It required taking the the whole unit apart and cleaning a ceramic piece in the very back of the heater. It was hard to get to, and it took about 2 hours of disassembling and reassembling. The good news is Paloma will walk you thru it on the phone and once it's was done, my system worked properly again. The bad news is,, it only lasted for about 9 months. So now I need to do it again. I'm hoping that someone will read this and tell me that there is a filter (like a gas filter) that I can install that is easier to get to.

Runs, but why does it shut down after a few minutes?

Appears to be a thermal issue. See if there is also a fan that is supposed to be running. If there is one and not working, then the unit is overheating and shutting down to protect itself and you.

I have an All Pro 150000 btu kerosene / diesel torpedo heater. It runs for a few minutes and then starts sputtering, shooting flames and smoke. What causes this problem?

First thing is to download the service manual.

http://www.desaparts.com/service_manuals.html

You need to make sure the filters are clean and that you are getting the proper air pump pressure.

If the units starts up and runs good and slowly goes out it will normally be due to a lack of fuel getting to the nozzle. When there is not enough fuel being delivered to the nozzle from either a clogged fuel filter of dirty air pump output filter the unit will slowly shut down from lack of fuel.

If the unit shuts down while it is running properly and the nose come is orange then you probably have a problem with a photocell or the flame out control.

If you have other questions you can contact our service department at 269-685-4125 at extension 224

I have a glow warm 20000 btu natural gas unvented heater. The unit is wall mounted. It won't stay on for more than 15 minutes, then shuts itself off. Its in a corner if that makes a difference... but has...

well, these heaters are typically thermostat-bound, and I have found that they simply will not burn continuously, like a blue-flame heater. Try turning up the setting--this will make it come on/off more often, effectively heating at least one med-lg room, and partially for adjoining areas. Keep in mind that these only rated for 700-1500 SF--that is NOT the floor measurements, but square feet of airspace; eg., a 10' x 15' room has 10' x 15' x 8' (8 foot ceiling) =1200 sf. That said, My 15k btu wall unit had been the sole heating source for my entire home for 5 years, until last year, when I acquired another smaller unit. However, I typically only use a few rooms, and shut off unused areas (ya, was 'cool' in unused back room areas).

The hot water shuts down for a few minuts then

your unit is undersized or you do not have enough gas supply to run the unit properly.
If you have to many water features running or you have to many gas items turn on at the same time it can cause problems.

Heater shuts off as soon as the room is warm

I take it once the temp is set to 71, and the ambient temp reaches 68 or so, it shuts off, never to come on again?

If that is true the thermostat in the unit is damaged, worn out or in need or replacement, but try a couple tricks.

First, if there are access panels to clean, clean it per the manual, it could be that a dirty filter or air inlet is confusing the thermostat.

Next, unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes, try it again.

Next set the unit on it's highest temp and blower setting, let it rip for 20 minutes, shut it down, unplug and remain unplugged for 5 minutes.

Next set the unit at 71 HIGH MODE.

see if we have a mode switch problem or thermostat if it works on high mode, it is not the thermostat, but I imagine it is, but I am curious as to if it once goes off, it never again comes back on?

Honeywell HZ7040 shuts off after few minutes

This sounds like a theromostat problem. If you're NOT still under warranty you should at least open the heater and look for the theromostat. A lot of times you can buy replacement at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace. Good luck!
