Okay, my sister has the FE-210 and she has loved it so far. But recently when she goes to upload her pictures, not using Olympus Master, just the photo thing already on the computer, the files and folders show up as gibberish and strange symbols. I tried installing Olympus Master but when you click transfer, the pictures don't show up. I updated the camera and checked in device manager and everything was fine there. But it still isn't working. I don't know what to do now. I haven't found anything that can help me. So if anyone can help, please. Oh and I don't know if it matters but we have XP.
Have you tried accessing the camera as if it was simply an external drive?
If you open 'My Computer' the camera should appear as a removable drive and you can treat it as a flash or thumb drive.
It should have (possibly nested) folders and files at teh lowest level.
I love Oly cameras but their software has always been quirky so I avoid installing and using it.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

I have had my Olympus FE-210 for about 2 1/2 years just recently it started to display an all black screen after I took pictures and like many of you I would turn it off and back on just to get 1 picture out.
After testing it over and again I may have solved the problem:
First: remove all of the pictures and memory card from the camera
Second: go into the menu and find the reset button it will then display that the camera will return to default(factory setting)
after I did this I was able to take over 35 continuous pictures using every setting and scene setting the camera has
If this doesn't work I would suggest buying a new camera
Hopes this helps!!
Format your camera's internal memory and also format any memory cards you insert.
Use a program called Recover4All to see exactly what is in your camera's internal memory.
Then insert a memory formatted memory card and take some pictures. see if they will upload.
Hey dramaqueen79,
It sounds like you have internal damage to the camera. I would have it looked at be an authorized service center. If you are fine with the performance of the camera and all you want to do is be able to upload your images you could purchase a card reader(for an xd memory card) that connects to a usb port, and upload your images directly to your computer with the card reader.

Yea, and that's where everything shows up as symbols and gibberish. Nothing is in the folders either.
