Hello,
I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC32 about 3.5 years old. Never any issues with it, never a hiccup. Until, of course, the day it wouldn't eject a tape. I had just finished rewinding a tape, I turned it off, and then when I engaged the "Open/Eject" lever it wouldn't eject the tape.
When I tried to turn the camera back on, it would beep once and light the green "Tape" LED once at the same time, and flash the SONY logo in white on the blue LCD screen, then go off. About 5 seconds later it would repeat. Over and over again. Nothing else on the screen, just the SONY icon. This is on the AC Adapter.
If I plugged in the battery, I would get the same behavior except it would show a InfoLITHIUM battery logo in the upper left part of the LCD along with the SONY logo in the center as usual. But then it would shut off.
If I leave the door open (even though it isn't ejecting the tape) I can hear a tiny "click-click" at the same time as the LED will blink and the sound will beep - like it is trying to eject the tape.
I called Sony support, went through the normal on-off-on-off-reset-on-off procedure to no avail. It has been happening for about three weeks.
Any help would be most appreciated!
Thank you!
Hi,
DCR-HC32 need new tape mechanism as shown in below exploded view.
Its part number is as follows..
A-1082-424-A MD (Z210) SUB ASSY
Related Service Manual will definitely help you how to replace mechanism.
There would be no need to upgrade firmware or any reset procedure after mechanism replacement.
Its specific part for DCR-HC32 model only and can be used in few other Sony camera models too.
You can search on internet about its availability or I will let you know by tomorrow.
I will let you know good place to buy subject part by tomorrow.
Thank you.
Hi,
A-1171-909-B is direct replacement of above said mechanism but some time requires Tape Path Adjustment. (skills required to do so)
Its available in Parts Store and price is approx $98
Good luck.
I have no idea how come this part is so cheap in that store.
If the price given is true for new part, I'm ready to place order of minimum 50 pieces ..lol
Here I post picture of required mechanism which I found in my parts stock.
You can get it from cheap store, if found good, you saved $90 and if not, Good one will cost you $105 instead of $98 :D
( 98 + 7 = 105 )

Hi Welcomejee,
Any ideas where to get one of those?
Do you know where a repair manual could be had that details how to replace the part? Once the part is replaced, are there any firmware resets that need to be made or anything to indicate that there is a new part?
Finally, is that part generic to Sony Handycams, or does it need to come out of the HC32 specifically?
Thank you so much!
Great!
Thank you - if you know of a good place to get the part, I would be most appreciative.
Regardless - thank you very much for the help!
Hi!
Is this a reputable store?
http://www.reportecus.com/.sc/ms/dd/Came...
I'm wondering because of the extreme discrepancy in price....$98 vs $7.16!
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you very much for all the help so far!
