Hotpoint Aquarius 1100 - Grinding Noise From Drum

My Hotpoint Aquarius 1100 (washer dryer) has started to making quite a loud grinding noise when the drum is turning. This noise occurs whether you are using the washer or the dryer. Any ideas what it could be? The machine is about four years old Thanks Claire

This sounds like the min bearings have gone, open the door and see if there is any play up and down on the drum. if so its the bearing if not it could be something that has fallen from a pocket and got stuck between the metal clothes drum and the oute drum casing. a take apart job i am afraid for both issues.

When washer is on spin mode there is a very loud grinding noise and when i check the inside to see if anything left in when wash has finish i turn the drum and the grinding noise is there.Please can anyone...

Take the backplate off the machine and take out the heating element which looks like a long oval and has three wires to it you can then see inside the drum to see if anything is in there

Something stuck between drums or possibly heating element touching inner drum.

Most likely your drum bearings are worn out. This is a major repair.

You may be better off replacing the machine.

I have a hotpoint aquarius 1100 washer dryer wd51 was making a grinding noise we turned it off and a under wire from a bra was sticking through a hole in the drum pulled it out and it is complete but now...

The bra wire bears no relation to your present problem.
Remove top cover, screws at rear, and push top cover back.
See if the belt is still on, if it is, then select final spin and see if the motor and drum go round, if it does not, then the brushes in the motor probably need replacing.
Unplug washer, and disconnect the motor. you will find the brushes at the motor plug end, depress plastic lugs, and slide brushes out, if they are less than 5mm long, then replace them

If it is the belt that has come off, you will have to remove the rear panel to refit it.

sounds like bearings in your ctd40

aquarius extra wd64 grinding sound + broken Off and on grinding sound during wash cycle. 'Stage dial' needs help moving to the next stage. Eventually cycle stops and door unlocks with machine still with dirty water in it.
