The defrost thermostat and defrost heater also maybe the reason. I go by the odds but in your case the ADC causes a more erratic symptom's

You can order the parts to fix this yourself if you are handy with tools. You would need to unplug the refrigerator to do this I will supply you with a parts store you can buy parts from and will give you a parts list that yu can look at and decide what you need. Of course I would turn off the water before continuing to use this refrigerator. here is the site and put you model number in and it will give you a parts list to look at. you could have a torn fill tube tha allows water to spray out of the unit.there is the possibilty that the ice maker it self has a problem and needs to be changed. i have never heard of some changing two wire and fixing this problem sounds like you got taken.check to see if the ice maker is properly mounted to the compartment this could also cause the issue you are having you can call me at 417 551 4311 if you have any futher questions
