I purchased this washer about a month ago (kenmore HE top-load) and been getting this f-- message. After reading the recent entries I have noticed others have this similar issue.. Most likely I will be calling Sears to replace them with another type (front loader) as this seems to be a uncorrectable situation with the top loader and I am not looking to play this out over time.

A good trick that i found was to fill tub with hot water and put a full cup of dishwasher detergent any kind but has to be powdered not liquid detergent. Do this two times in a row and then every month.
The "uL" message stands for "unbalanced load." Open the lid to the washer and redistribute the load if the "uL" display appears on the appliance.Redistributing the load should correct any imbalances in the washer and allow the washer to turn freely. Close the lid and press "Start" to restart the washer.
i had same prob. at my daughters house, similar model. first time a hose popped off the top(i removed the lid), later i noticed leaks because my son in law was using oxy clean and it foamed over. my advice is, put machine on its side and look for loose/popped off hoses, dont use too much soap or additives, which will trick the water level sensor or just pour over that little drum
I have the same problem. I used the unit 2 days ago and no problems- just bragged about the unit yesterday and now today it will not turn on and it is no longer under warranty. I also checked to see if power to plug and it is fine. Any suggestions?
Your washer is still under manufacturer's warranty which is one full year. If it has Kenmore's name on it you do not need proof of purchase. The only thing you need is your mother-in-law's home phone number at time of purchase because Sears keeps all their records based on phone numbers.
