Scrambled functions, remote problems

Hi I have a strange problem with an RCA DCR6300N, unit has been woking perfectly, then suddenly the remote no longer works (remote tested and is ok), the function buttons on the unit itself are fine on the DVD side, but are "scrambled" for lack of a better word on the VCR side, where the IR sensor is located. The eject button now does nothing, the DVD/VCR button ejects the tape, channel up is record, channel down is channel up, and the record button toggles the unit between DVD and VCR. So basically, the only function that is missing is channel down. All the switches are ok, I can find no cold solder connections, it has been unplugged for long periods to reset, all voltages appear to be where they should be, as far as I can tell without service info. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: RCA DRC-285 DVD Player won't respond

hi, 2 things usually cause this kind of behaviour 1-the dvd+r have been burnt at a high speed 2-the dvd player itself is a bit old when you burn your dvd+R always burn them at a lower speed lowest if possible it'll take longer but it's well worth it and you wouldn't have a problem playing them back

SOURCE: RCA DRC8030N Problem

hey maybe you can try this first before the other solution posted i just read..

Open it up and unjack the drive unit from the maid board. it hould be connected via a cable.. turn the unit on and it should display an error message or error code.. Once this is done unplug the unit and reconnect the cable this should reset the unit and it should work..

I have never tried anoter drive before in any unit cause i could never get it to work, i always purchased the exact replacement parts.. In your case i believe its cause the main controller is damaged or frozen.. If you got a battery n the board remove it wiat a few minutes and replace it this should reset the unit..

SOURCE: remote does not work

i have the same problem. the unit itself won't accept the remotes signal. i tested 2 remotes on 2 different machines, and the problem machine won't accept signals, but the good machine will from both remotes.

SOURCE: Unit unresponsive - see detail below

Thanks to the help on this forum, I was able to fix my DRC8335 power supply. C226 was the problem, went to Radio Shack and found the 470uf 35V replacement. It came up and worked like a charm after soldering it in. (See the picture of the cap on the board). It was just slightly swollen when viewed from the top but when i removed it, the bottom was really distorted. Thanks to micro065 and Mike Powellebbca66.jpg

My Panasonic DVD+VHS recorder has suddenly stopped recieving a signal. Aerial still works from dvd recorder to TV.

No signal from this combo unit can mean either one of 2 things; the program information didn't update correctly while unit was in standby, so some digital channels may be missing or scrambled, or you have selected a HD channel by mistake during use (this series does not have a HD tuner, it is only SD which would also produce the no signal issue).

Going on the first possibility, you can reset the unit back to factory default. To do this, while it is on, press and hold (on the front panel, not the remote) CH UP and CH DOWN buttons together until 'SETUP' appears on the display. Once setup begins, and the unit searches for DVB channels, release the buttons. With the remote, follow the subsequent options afterwards, when prompted. Check other menus, then exit. This should restore your unit to all SD digital channels available.

Assuming the tuner works generally, this reset procedure should help (it works perfectly for Australian models of this series).

I have a RCA RC27A remote for a converter box w/an Orion tv...the volume & power to the tv no longer works w/this remote. The other functions on the remote pertaining to tha box works but not to the tv...

There is more than one code that will work with your unit, that will let you use are items, try different cage for that brand, and that will fix your problem.

Menu scrambled

Try resetting the unit. On the front panel of the unit (not the remote) hold down the channel up and down buttons for 5-7 seconds without a disc inside. This is a factory reset.

I did this this morning and so far so good.

This is a scrambled function processor and it would need to be re flashed by an rca service technician to fix this problem.
