I have a 32" TV Trinitron that that stopped working. The TV does not turn on at all. I suspect that a fuse may be the problem, but honestly, I don?t know much about TVs. Can anyone tell me how to locate this fuse (in case that?s the real problem), or suggest another cause for the TV?s inoperability?
Thanks,
Vick
Two things have happened. First problem was the sides started to close in, color bands of different collors going vertical. Lived with that for awile cause at least I had a picture to watch. then one day it turned itself off, I turned it on, it turned itself off, this could go on for years so I turned it off. When it was turned on it was like normal, i could hear voices on the tv but then off it went. Any ideas? Seems no one around my area in northern WI does any work on these things built in 2003. been sitting on tv stand for about a year, time to get it fixed. You need 2 men and two small boys to move the thing, thanks. Two things have happened. First problem was the sides started to close in, color bands of different collors going vertical. If you have no indication of power(no lights,no clicks) the main fuse is a good place to start but if he is blown and is black in color you will have a shorted component ahead in the circuit and if you replace the fuse it will blow up as soon as you plug the set in,in all honesty since you are not too familiar with tv service you should be safe and seek the assistance of a servicer.

Coils right steer clear of the Anode or Big wire w/rubber boot going to the CRT.(27.5KV) You may need a Horizontal output transistor if its a dead set. (Or flyback and or both).. If you are going to attempt repairing or tracking down get detailed instructions on discharging the CRT before poking around. These can retain voltage for years without being plugged in. (They will SNAP you good)!

If you do not know enough about the high voltages in televisions - 25000 Volts is typical from the horizontal- line timebase then you should not even take the back panel off. Often the line timebase fails due to a power transistor going short circuit, this will probably blow a fuse on the internal printed circiut board. All the other supply voltages are derived from this one timebase. Some televisions also have a small mains transformer.
I have heard that it could simply be a faulty mains switch, which you could check with a meter on Ohms range. (TV not plugged into mains!).

Yes, there's a posibility that IC561 is partially faulty but on the symptoms you've described, I would advice you to replaced first C539(470uf/25V) and C561 (47uf). I've suspected that these filter electrolytic capacitor is already leaky or dried up...
Theirs a problem in CRT board, the inner part of your TV,at the power supply section.Try to check fuse at power supply section.there are 2 fuse in the board. The AC fuse and the DC fuse check the DC fuse.
Sounds like a diode may have burnt up or if your really lucky it might just be the fuse.!!! You might want to get a secound opinion .But if you know what to look for , which is any component on the motherboard that appears as if had caught fire sader it out amd replace with exact same component which can be ubtained at radio shack.GOOD LUCK TOO YOU!!!!!!!!!
there might be a problem with the connection of the screen to the motherboard or the wire that connects it might be the fault. but there could be a burnt fuse or components.I would suggest letting a tv tech have a look good day sr
There are fuses in most TV's... and in some cases, it's nothing but the fuse. BUT, the fuses are there to protect the circuits... so unless you know that there is nothing wrong with the TV, you shouldn't simply replace the fuse and plug it back in. However, if the TV is an older TV and it's either fix it by replacing the fuse or get rid of the TV... then I'd certainly take out the screws and check the fuses in the TV. But many times the fuse blows to protect it when something else fails... so if you find a blown fuse, look around for other signs.
WORKING ON ELECTRONICS should be done by professionals!! Proceed at your own risk!
Check power supply, you might have a bad fuse, capcitor or resister that went out in this TV I would seek a local tv repair shop to rule out these issue outlayed here.
