Having recently installed a new graphics driver, I'm left with a problem.
The "Legacy Video Capture Driver" on my system now absolutely refuses to recognize I have a DV cam plugged in when using Ulead Video Studio - I can't capture anything!!
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling... no dice.
It USED to work, it doesn't now.
I checked with windows digi signed drivers, Nvidia (my motherboard manufacturer), ABIT my graphics card manufacturer (uninstalled & reinstalled all drivers, supposedly including WDM video capture with no result), AND the JVC site ... in search of an appropriate driver.
Any recommendations as to where to get an appropriate driver?
Thank you.
I meant to say "Having recently installed a new graphics card" I'm not certain whether the driver I have is really new or the same I've always had, since the driver software I installed is for a radeon, which hasn't much to do with "Legacy".
The firewire port I had worked fine with the old card, which was the same brand.
NEW CARD: Radeon 9550 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card. The latest drivers are of course installed.
OLD CARD Radeon 8500LE, also AGP.
FIREWIRE CARD: Koutech 4-Port FireWire/1394 PCI (DV SW+Cable Bundle) Model IO-PFW410 <- Someone recently commented on newegg citing how well this firewire card works with their JVC cam, ironically enough!I meant to say "Having recently installed a new graphics card" I'm not certain whether the driver I have is really new or the same I've always had, since the driver software I installed is for a radeon, which hasn't much to do with "Legacy".

Switch your PC on and left click on the control panel, systems, right click to open, left click device manager. Once the device manager is opened. Find out if your sound, video, and games controller is working alright. Then, get connected to the internet at the microsoft website for the free driver software download for video and sound. Make sure that this is compatible with your existing operating systems.

The WDM driver is required to capture video. You need to go to the website of that capture device, and download the WDM driver.
If you can't find one there, try to look in MyComputer/Properties/advanced/Hardware/DeviceManager and find the DeviceID of your video capture device. Then use Google to find places to download that driver.
Try reversing the actions you made to see if you can restore operation of your capture program. And if you do, I would suggest that you do not reinstall in your computer the software for the still pictures since there is a conflict. Better still, If you have a system restore point dated before you introduced the still software, I would try that first . Good luck!
