there is a coupling between the motor and transmission that has cracked. with the crack in the coupling the transmission cant spin as fast as the motor causeing the loud noise. replace coupling to solve problem

WP HAS HAD A ON GOING ISSUE WITH THIS THAT IS THE REASON WHY THEY REDIGNED THE DRAIN PUMP. YOU NEED TO 1ST DRAIN OUT AS MUCH WATER MANUALLY AS YOU CAN THEN DISCONNECT ALL YOUR HOSES FROM WALL TAKE THE WM OUTSIDE TO DRAIN THE OTHER 3 GALLONS OF WATER YOU CANNOT SEE. TURN THE MACHINE ON ITS BACK THEN USING A 5/16 NUT DRIVER REMOVE 4 SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM PANEL. REMOVE PANEL AND YOUR DRAIN MTR IN ASSESSIBLE. THE PART CAN BE ORDERED AT WWW.REPAIRCLINIC.COM

Since your washer worked fine while in Germany and now is exhibiting this problem at your new home, you may want to double check how it was installed. I suspect you may have a problem known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

This could be a simple situation where the drain line on the washer is not installed correctly. There are minimum height and length requirments on the drain line. In addition, make sure the stand pipe you have the drain hose inserted in has a proper air gap to allow draining. All of this is explained in the link provided.

If the washer won't finish a spin cycle, it probably means that your timer went bad or stalled. You can take the control panel off and look at the contacts for scorching or corrosion.
