Will cool using gas but will not work on AC the check light comes on when we shut of gas.

Hopefully it is only a heating element. Supply gas and see if it holds flame if it does it should heat the coils all the way across. If it does not your coil is most likely bad. Is there any yellow powder any where on the back or inside if so also a sign of a bad coil.
SOURCE: RV refrigerator works fine on AC power. Burns for 30 seconds on gas power then shuts off.
tap on the gas valve with a wrench, not too hard but not too light about 10 times, the valve is probably sticky from not being used,re-light and see what happens.

There is some reason maybe not explained here. But I will help you if you want. Below is a simple test. The manual I need you to make sure if you have the RM2652 or another model to get the correct manual. That model has digital controls and that is controlled by a control board for switching from AC to DC to Propane. If the board will not switch then we need to look for that problem. Dometic, good refrigerate and great support group. Now here is a link to that model number problem solving PDF. With the manual we can work together to solve this. You need to make sure that you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for using the unit with each specific power source. It's important that you have the all switches in the proper position, based on what power source you're using.
Here's the manual for your model, save a copy and print it out and take some time to review the section #3 Operating Instructions on page 6.

Hello,Depending on the age of the unit, it could have a compressor going bad
on it, as the compressor gets hot the valves may not be seating
correctly or may be burning out.
You may have also lost some refrigerant, but I am going to lean more to a bad compressor.
Thanks
