I have CCD-TRV57E and found camera would switch itself ON and could not turn off. Had switch replaced some years ago and is now fine. Also have a friend with same camera and had the same problem, also had switch replaced.
Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.
It may be as simple as a broken or worn out on/off switch. If the switch shorts out, the camera will always be on or always be off. The problem could also be the switching circuitry.
