Question about Sony KP-61V45 61" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Sony Color Rear Video Projector- KP-61V45

Sony Color Rear Video Projector KP-61V45 Picture Blanking Out- When you walk in and turn it on it will work fine. Then after a while (an hour, two hours) the picture will go blank, but the sound will be fine. It will begin with it going blank for 30 seconds or so and then come back on. Then it will eventually the picture will go out and stay out. If you turn it off and then back on while it is blank, the picture won't come back. The Stand-by light will just blink indefinately. If you give it a light wack on the side of the cabinet, the picture will then come back on. But it will just keep going out, more frequently. If you let it sit for hours it will come on and operate as normal for a while then begin going blank again. Any suggestions on what may be going on here?

You have already diagnose the problem, the set has a loose conection in the high voltage area or horizontal drive circuits but dont be suprize if you find more loose conections or overheated areas, while you are looking for this loose conection giving you this problem take the time and correct any other questionable spot.If you are familiar with tv service this will give a place to start but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer,it should not be expensive.Let us know if youu need more help.

Sony kp-61v45 how to change projection lamp? my tv does not have a picture. however the sound is normal and can change channels. from my research it appears I need to change the lamp. however have no clue...

You Do Not have a Lamp in this Model it is Projection and has 3 Tubes R/B/G Tubes
You need to Check the Hori output Transistor and a small blue capacitor 2k it is a high voltage capaciotr that feeds to the Hori output.
Their is No Tubes avilable for this model you have to ship Bad Tube and have it rebuilt, another thing if you had a Bad Tube which ever one is bad Set would come on with that color of drive lines across the TV.

My sony kp61xbr300 rear video projector tv keeps on blinking on and off why can some one help me

The three picture tubes have become imbalanced and the IK circuitry is blanking out the picture. This means one of the tubes has gotten weaker than the other. Sometimes this problem can be resolved by readjusting the screen controls to the tubes. If that doesn't work then the offending tube would have to be replaced.
