Re: tv has no picture
The very first thing you can check is the lamp, the set needs to be unpluged while you do it,the lamp might have exploded and it happens for no reason and is the only thing you can check safely. If is bad you can order it from toshiba, item number TB25-LMP,price shown is 199.00.If the lamp is ok you will need the assistance of a servicer.

Don't know which boards Z or Y have dead capacitors pop open, take ur tv aparts check boards that have pop opens parts or burn marks on them.Replaced that board will solved ur problems.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy refurbish boards for the replacement.
Pop sound shows that some thing went wrong inside TV and most probably any part got busted. Let me know model number of your Sony TV and does its standby red light blinking? if yes, how many times it blinks between 3 seconds interval.
Your tv is being attacked by electrical surges which seem very violent and has already damaged some logic controls. Please invest in a AC filter which will protect your tv from such spikes....... but first you need to get your tv serviced from the electrical damaged it has already suffered.
Thats the great sound of Exploding capacitors on either the power supply board. or another one in there. Now the set is in fault protection. It tried to warn you with the RED blinking LED that there was something amiss by shutting itself down. When you unplugged you reset the error and allowed it to do it again.
im srry to tell you that you picture tube blew in you tv this can happen from many things as simple as a defective one .. to a bad power surge in your house ... if it is under warranty they will fix free of charge .. if not you'll have to get a new tv .. a new tv in most cases is cheaper then tryin to just by the tube .. oh and if its not under warranty .. you could always just say it surged and claim it on you home owners insurance =]
I have a sansui 19" LCD TV+DVD I had to attempt multiple times turning the TV on to get a picture. The sound was fine. This kept happening when I would go to turn on the set the TV kept playing fine with picture & sound but after the 2nd attemts I turned it off & then tried to turn it back on which took multiple attempts, it kept playing for a few minutes then the picture went out but the sound was still there. The set is not yet 2 years old.
