Is it plugged into the microphone jack or is it built in? Make sure you have the volume turned up on the microphone and make sure the microphone is not muted. Also go into your audio properties and make sure the voice recording and microphone is selected and you might be able to run a test from there also.

I plugged in my coby mic but it wont record

Did it work before? if so try a different microphone and see if you have the same problem. If so the recorder is bad, if it works your microphone is bad.

If not then it may be the wrong type of microphone for your recorder.

Good Luck,

My compaq laptop inbulit micro phone is not working what to do to make it work.

have the drivers reinstalled and if this wont work the PC must be set back to an earlier restore point.
If this wont help there can be errors due to registry failure due to virus.Take a scan with a registry cleaner, if not reinstall OS.
