I have a audio fiber optic cable hooked up from the bravia DAV-HDX275 theatre to my 46" bravia LCD tv but im not getting any sound through the surround speakers. I have also gone through all the modes (tv/video,etc...) even waiting a sec for it to come through the speakers and nothing. The surround works through everything else, such as video, but i just can't get my regular tv channels to play through it. Please help!!
The fiber optic port on back on your bravia tv is only for when your using a over the air antenna and watching local atsc channels in your local market. You need to run the fiber optic from your hd cablebox if it has one or your hd sat box if it has one. If you don't have a set top box with the fiberoptic port on it you can use a digital coax cable from the cable or sat box to sound system. The only other way to get sound if you don't have a cable or sat box is to run the red and white rca audio cable from the tv to the sound system and got to the audio setup on tv and turn the tv speakers off and you might have to adjust the audio to fixed instead of variable.

I set up my new DAV-HDX275 to my 32" Bravia LCD last night, and I have the same problem with the digital optical cable: no sound when watching cable TV (DVDs sound and look great). I did try to run the digital optical cable from the cable box to the DAV-HDX275, but still no sound. I have gone through every setup menu I can find on all three devices (TV, Home Theater receiver, cable box) but there does not seem to be anything in the setups that would be preventing the sound from coming out. Does anybody have any ideas?
