I was facing this exact same issue. My dewalt compressor was spitting milky oil, and then suddenly stopped working but then I found this troubleshooting guide which really solved my issue:

Your mentioned issues were at somewhere around number 60-65, I dont exactly remember it now :)

Compressors draw alot of amps.maybe your braker isnt big enough. clean the air intake filter.

This is a common problem with this compressor and still is a problem in 2014.It is under powered and trips the reset

as long as the compressor is running on your freezer the longer the fan runs has to too cool the compressor . . .thermostat problem

If the motor is working OK but pressure won't go over 20psi you may have an air leak but most probably have damaged piston rings or cylinder or the valve plate is damaged. Check to make sure the tank drain valve isn't open or that you don't have leaks in any of the air lines. If that's OK, you will have to remove the head from the cylinder to check the valve plate and piston/cylinder assembly. The reeds on the valve plate should be flat and not overly discolored (black or blued) from heat. If they are they can warp or get brittle and break. Since your compressor is oil lubricated it is rare for the piston/rings/cylinder to get damaged unless it's run with no oil so check those areas for scoring or damage like broken rings. Replace whatever is damaged and keep the oil full.

The best thing I've found to seal saw table tops is a good car wax. It keeps the rust down and is great to keep your work sliding easily on the top and won't stain your wood like oil based coatings would.

Check for leaks all over the machine. Possibly the O ring on the drain valve is damaged. If the machine is oil-less, the big rubber O ring on the piston could be worn away.
When the machine is turned off can you hear air leaking from anywhere?
