Sounds like a power supply to me. Check on the back of the tower next to the power plug. Sometimes there is a red, slide-type circuit breaker. Switch it and see if your comp powers up.

The lights on the back of the tower are probably the network card. It usually lights up when its connected to a network or router, but is not an indication that the computer is running.

If you have a warranty, get the company to fix the problem. (this will be cheaper for you and less headache.) Also, opening the case may void the warranty.

If you dont have a warranty, I suggest taking it to a computer repair place if you're not the DIY type.

If you are the DIY type, research and purchase the correct replacement power supply. (This can be tricky, get help if you are not 100% sure)
If you have the wrong voltages, amperage, or cycles, you can fry everything on your computer!
Unplug all the cords, ground yourself, open the case, remove and replace the power supply, and try again.

Power blue light flashing when i turn the computer on

It depends on where the blue light is. Is the blue light on the monitor or on the computer tower? If it is on the monitor the monitor is having problems and needs to be serviced. If it is on the tower it could be an issue with the power supply.

No power to tower. Pressing power on button on front of tower fails. Is there some kind of reset or fuse to look for?

There is no easy fuse. Did the computer get turned off at the back? Some power supplies have a switch on the top of the tower. Did the power strip get turned off? Have you verified that the outlet has power?
If this is not the problem, it sounds like a blown power supply. Do you have any lights on the system? If not, take the tower to a local computer shop and they can very quickly diagnose a failed power supply.

MY DELL IS OPTIPLEX 760SFF, IT NOT BOOTING, SHOWING AMBER LIGHT ON THE POWER BUTTON WHEN PLUG TO POWER.

Hi,
If this the light is solid amber in the front of the computer.Try doing the following steps

1. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the system tower. Press the power button on the tower 30 seconds.
2. Reconnect the power cable to the back of the system tower and power it back on.

If the amber light is on the monitor power button and the tower power button is off or blinking amber it could mean that it is a bad power supply.

When my computer is turned on green light is not display and the screen does not display anything than what should i do ??

If the green light is not glowing in the tower check the status of the light on the back of the tower where the power cable goes.
If there is no light in the back of the tower than it might be an issue with the wall jack or surge protector so try connecting the power cable to a different jack and see what happens. if it remains the same than try with a different power cable and check.

If the light is glowing on the back of the tower but there is no light in the front than it may happen the power supply of the pc might have failed. try to open the tower reseat the RAM cards, reseat the Harddrive cables as wells as try to reseat the cables of the power supply. if the light on the back flickers and goes away than it might be a faulty motherboard. So do a Motherboard test by turning on the pc without the RAM cards, if the motherboard is fine you will hear beeping noise if not than motherboard is faulty.

Fan works randomly....when it's not working plug

Hi, If the computer is hot near the electrical plug in the back of the computer then the power supply needs to be replaced. This will also cause overheating problems if the fan does not exhaust enough air. You should not run the computer in this condition because the power supply can short out and take other components with it. Also there is a risk that it will burn up. Power supplies are very inexpensive and can be changed by anyone with basic computer repair knowledge. Hank

My speakers stopped working after they were unplugged etc

Try the BLUE jack, then the GREEN jack. You won't hurt anything if you guess wrong. BTW, are the sub and speakers powered up? Pilot light showing they're on? Some speakers are powered by a USB port - any loose USB cables laying around?

Dell computer won't come on...only get yellow light, no blue

If the Tower has a blue light, then it appears to be working, I'd check the cable connection to the video port on the tower and the INPUT Select Button of the Monitor (I've seen people change the input select to DVI when connected analog for example)
