Is a good thing you have an indication of power,it means some volts supplies are working ,your set might have a shorted output transistor and he is the responsible for lighting up the picture tube and energize a transformer that also provides voltage supplies,if the transistor is bad it has likely open the safety resistor that gives him the power to operate. If you are familiar with tv service you can check this part to start but if you are not too familar with tv service be safe and call for the assistance of a servicer.

Does the same thing happen if you turn it on without the remote?

If not, it's likely a short in either the remote or the sensor on the TV that receives the remote signal. A short in either would break the power on signal into two separate signals, which the TV would interpret as you hitting the power button twice, and would thus turn on and then immediately back off. If that's your problem, I'd suggest getting ahold of another remote for your set, or a universal remote that you can program for your set. There's a good chance that will fix it, and it's much easier than trying to fix the sensor.

If the same thing is happening when you use the power button on the TV, we have an entirely different problem, most likely a short somewhere. The power supply detects the short and shuts itself off to avoid doing more damage (or causing a fire). Sort of like how a circuit breaker works. That would explain it turning on and back off immediately. If that's your problem, you'll have to have someone who's handy with electronics take a meter to it and find the short. How you fix it will depend on exactly where the short is.

Rca 24" tv remote won't operate tv

If set turns on with the power button on set the remote is : not set to TV, not programmed for the set, has bad batteries or is bad.

If it even works one function it may need to be reprogrammed or taken apart to see if works---you can test the remote by pointing it at a digital camera with a LCD screen and pressing buttons to see if it makes the screen flash on the camera.

Test the remote first

Previously Requested but no solution: I cannot reprogram the remote for this TV so that I can connect to AT&T Uverse Satellite. I do not have a mdoel number for the TV remote that came with the...

Hello, Mr. Ross.

I'll be more than happy to assist you with this and all of your other Uverse concerns.

First please write these codes down, these are the TV codes for your Mitsubishi TV,
0093, 0150, 0178, 0019 (we are going to do trial and error for these codes till we hit the correct one for your TV.)

Please turn the TV on and point your ATT remote control.
Okay, using your ATT remote control, please press and hold the TV button together with the "OK" button.
All four modes should flash twice indicating that we are programming your remote control.
Now, enter the 4 digit code and the selected mode (in our case it is the TV) should give a long flash.
Then press OK.
Try to turn your TV off and check if it would respond
If not, please redo the steps but this time use the other codes I provided earlier.

If these codes wont work we will do the automatic code finder if you are using the "black" AT&T Uverse remote control.

Using your ATT remote control, please press and hold the TV button together with the "OK" button.
Then press the "scan/ff" button repeatedly with atleast 1 second interval till it turns your TV off.
Press OK then try to turn your TV on again.

Whenever your remote won't respond, try pressing either the AT&T button on top of the remote before any other buttons or the TV button beside the ATT button.

You were attempting to perform a power scan initially. The second procedure is manually attempting to address the remote to your TV. I will give you the procedures again so you can try one more time. Emerson TV is one brand we have a low percentage of success getting our remotes to work. If it still doesn't work, we could try replacing the remote.

Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
  4. Press #. Note: The LED will flash three times.
  5. Test functionality with the TV.
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.
Remote Power Scan: Basic Remote (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.

Letterboxing: The top and bottom of the screen are cut off I originally obtained this TV from my Bro who passed away from cancer at age 31 a few years ago & I was never able to find out what he did with the manual. However, I was able to find a manual online but after viewing it, I still wasn't able to find the info. that I am trying to obtain for the correct settings to get rid of these black margins at the top & bottom of the screen. I am trying to find out what video output format is supported by this TV model, as far as the resolution and output format, specifically for a Cisco or AKA Scientific Atlanta 500GB HD-DVR through Cox cable? My available settings with Cox cable & the DVR I have( Cisco or Scientific Atlanta 500GB model)are the following-Resolution:480i, with output format of either:Zoom 16:9 Pic or Letterbox 16:9 Resolution:480p standard, with output format of either:Zoom 16:9 Pic. or Letterbox 16:9 Resolution:480wide, with either output format of:Stretch 4:3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic Resolution:720p wide, with output format of:Stretch 4:3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic and finally, resolution:1080i wide with output format of:Stretch 4.3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic? Everything worked fine with the screen size when I had a 160GB Motorola HD-DVR with Cox under the video output settings of:resolution:480i and video output of:Zoom 16:9 Pic until, I grew tired of constantly running out of space & had them switch me to a 500GB HD-DVR. They were supposed to install another Motorola HD-DVR but just with 500GB version but when the Cox maintenance employee showed up to swap them out and install the 500GD HD-DVR, he only had a Cisco/Scientific Atlanta 500GB available on his truck, which is I guess what they use for the Contour service but he attached a filter to the back of the coxial cable to make it a regular HD-DVR without Contour(even though they tried charging me extra for contour for 3 months before I finally got that straightened out since the maintenance workers & billing dept. are often not on the same page as I found out at Cox. I have tried calling Cox for support & they say that I need to find out & know my TV's video output settings. I explained to them that it worked perfectly fine just weeks ago with 480i resolution and output format of Zoom 16.9 Pic before they switched to the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR from the Motorola DVR and that I didn't have the manual and I stated why and they basically said, too bad, figure it out yourself. Can someone please help me out? I have the TV set up for the correct zip code, cable box-Yes, the cable box output channel-video 1/Aux (since that is what the TV manual I read online said to use if you are using the 3-color coded cables instead of the coxial cables to plug in from the TV to the HD-DVR) & I have the Cable box remote control code set to code 008 (Scientific Atlanta) that I verified to be correct by checking it through the TV's automated code search. The serial # for the TV is:C306B2084 and the Chassis # is:ATC113BB1 and its the 27" RCA Entertainment Series Guide Plus Gold Gemstar that is X-Box ready. Thanks so much, Todd

tv screen is stretched too wide comin back from a week vacation, i turn on my rca f27650 to play xbox and i realize that my screen has been stretched out of proportion! i cannot see sides of the proper picture. i swith it to tv mode and the channels on the top left only show half of the first number! after trying to play around wit the menu settings to see if anything can be done to play wit the parameters! i went on my xbox 360 because i knew that there were settings in there to change screen fittings! what i found as a success (somewhat) was that when i changed the xbox screen format from normal to widescreen, the picture was formatted and actually fit the screen....kind off! the screen was no longer stretched and i was able to see the whole screen. even wit this somewhat succes, unfortunately the corners of the image were warped and appear compressed to fit format! i have tried troubleshooting from online but i have been most disappionted. ~ i have kept it unplug for hours / days to try a reset.fail ~ i have researched on how to acces the service menu for my model so i can adjust it but i seem to be finding only instructios for the generic rca service menu! the steps: hold menu, press release power, press release vol up, release menu i havent been able to get to the service menu at all! i thought that i might have already activated it but the screen jus didnt let me see it so i went and tried to acces this generic service menu on my other rca tv! it was a truflat rca model f20t10 ! similar guidpluss menus and all but i believe a bit newer! even on the rca f20t10 i was still unable to acces any service menus!...if you got any info on how i can fix an fit my screen please please let me know! thanks in advance
