Bearing noise I had major bearing noise on my zanussi washing machine, managed to source bearing/seal set from local supplier. got back off machine, removed pulley for belt. Not sure now whether to remove drum assembly completely or to split outer drum all way around middle and remove back half to get access to bearings etc. Any one got any suggestions which would be really appreciatted. thanks.

is it possible to replace the drum bearings and seal on this machine. I have taken out the two fixing screws from the rear of the lid but can not seem to remove it. if its not possible to renew the bearings then theres no need to proceed.

Hi there im the wash docotor. With your zanussis once you have removed the back half of the pannel and the top pannel. you will have to then detach the motor wire plug. then the heater wires and also the there is a sensoer on the side of the drum that also has a wiring connection. Also detactch the earth wires Then here come the tricky part. if you look on the top of the drum you have a rubber pipe connected to it comming from the washer draw detach that its easy. Then you have to dicconect the door seal from the front of the machine by the door (do not dissconect from the seal from the drum as you dont have to . Then disconnect the the drain hose. once this is all done you have to disconnect the legs, from the drum side. these are easily done as the pegs come out easily if you push in the pips from one side you can either knock them out with a hammer but it is best to pull em out with either some long bent nose pliers or gripping em in such a way with a monkey ranch Best way og getting the drum out is once you have done all that is to turn the machine onto its back and lifting the casing off leaving the drum on the floor.

Spin Cycle is very loud on front load washing machine

See here
How to fit a Bearing in a Washing Machine | Appliance Repair Help

  • If a washing machine is rumbling, and very noisy on spin, the main suspect is the drum bearings. Drum bearing failure is common on many washing machines due to water getting into them if the drum bearing seal fails. (Hotpoint and Zanussi in particular in my experience) To check for drum bearing failure you can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand. If the drum rumbles when spun then the bearings may have gone. There should be a constant rumble all the time the drum is revolving.
  • Another drum bearing failure symptom is excessive up and down play in the drum which can be checked for by lifting the drum up and down from the drum lip behind the door seal. A further symptom of drum bearing failure can be a brown rust patch underneath the washing machine and down the back of the outer drum, underneath the drum pulley (where the belt goes) although this patch is not always present. There are usually two small holes at the back of the drum bearings where water that has got past the drum bearing seal trickles out, and it's usually stained with grease and rust if water has got into the bearings.
  • Loud noises when turning the drum by hand can also be caused if the drum itself splits, or the spider at the back of the drum has come away from the drum, is corroded or even broken. This would normally be a loud noise on each revolution of the drum whereas the noise when drum bearings have gone is constant all the time the drum is turning. Lifting the drum checking for excessive play can often reveal a broken or loose drum spider which sometimes only occurs at certain points round the drum (the spider has three arms and is bolted to the drum at three points)

My zanussi aquacycle 1000. Programme knob is just cycling through the was cycle really quckly without the machine washing, the drum is moving slightly back and forth and sounds like its trying to engage...

Could be that the drive pulley behind the drum has loosened on the shaft. You do not say that you can hear the motor, but the drum moves slightly. Some machines have a shear pin which fails to prevent damage to the drum and motor. If you machine has one of these, it will be obvious when you get the back off. The lack of load on the motor could do strange things to the programmer. Good luck.

During the final spin, it is making a loud sound, is there a bearing that could be going?

The Maytag Neptune washer has 2 bearings seperated by a spacer pressed into the rear of the outer tub. The shaft from the inner basket support goes through a seal ten the 2 bearings where it attaches to the drive pulley. A small leak in the seal will cause the bearings to fail. The regular repair is expensive for both parts and labor as the outer tub has to be replaced. You can check around your area for a service company equipped to replace only the bearings rather than the tub.

Clanging noise out of the machine when going through the spin cycle. The noise gets worse as the spin speed increases. Are there bearings that can be replaced ?

It could be a number of things. Anything from drum bearing failure to something as simple as a coin becoming trapped inside the tub under the drum.

I have a GE front load washer model # whdvh626fww. it keeps making alot of noise when in the spin cycle and the belt keeps coming off. at first I thougt it was out of balance but that was not it . when I...

I have a different suggestion based on my washer's similar problem. If the black stuff is powdery and localized at the back of the unit, more than likely the culprit is the drum pulley itself is warped, causing the belt to chafe against the drum. The black powder is rubber residue from the scraping of belt on plastic. No need to replace unit. New belt and new pulley run about $70 each.

this is possible due to a bearing collapse or bearing spider broken. this causes drum pulley to be out of line and the belt comes off

    Bearing noise

You have to remove the outer tub assy from the cabinet then split the halfs, We're told the the bearings are part of the rear tub housing. You might be able to press out the bearings

"some you can get at and some you have to lift over the top, when you get there you will need to smack the bearings out, maybe a old socket set with a long tube just to fit inside the bearing hole?. for what its worth go to the tip you might find one, that just wants a door seal?"
You must have some technical experience.
